LASD releases bodycam footage of fatal shooting in Valencia

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has released footage of a fatal deputy-involved shooting that occurred in Valencie in January, raising some concerns over how the deputy handled the situation. Laurie Perez reports.

Having a female deputy all alone with an aggressive man twice her size is never a good idea. One can’t say she shouldn’t have used lethal force because the man didn’t care or respect her authority to begin with, so if she used a baton as the detective had said, the suspect would’ve easily overpowered her and probably took her service weapon. I see it as a justified, but avoidable killing. It’s a failure of the system not the officer herself.

This is what happens when you let the homeless person do what they want. The city of LA has failed the citizens in fixing this big homeless problem

The problem is not the legitimicy of the shooting, it's wether sending a female police, alone, to deal with any man that could result in violence. If any man can overpower a female, her options will reduced to her tools. I think if there were 2 male police, they could had over powered him instead of killing him. And that is the problem, if female police only rely on their tools because they can't deal with physical confrontation... that would only lead to more deadly outcomes. Btw, they say she was calm and all but should had gone for the taser, that's a lie, people who are afraid for their life ALWAYS go for lethal weapon, ALWAYS.

Again my point was not the shooting, my point is, is this the outcome anybody wanted? if not then what was the problem? Sadly all boils down to letting females into police work. They are not build for that line of work, it's not for their sake, it's for the public sake.

She could have been killed easily. A bullet goes little what do you think a baton will do? This guy is too angry and too big so she did the right thing to protect herself and now she gets to live and go home to her family

she had options but she knows that she get to walk free anyway, why not kill one today.
from first few words its clear this guy was not in right mind, if she value his life she could have step back and call for more cops/medics or use taser io gun.
But no she had to use full force.
