I’m no expert. I built my saw mill. The two most important things are blade tension and blade speed. I generally have 2800 psi on the blade and do my best to keep blade speed over 4000 FPS. Putting a larger motor on your saw will help, without the tension I’m not sure it’ll help that much.
What you have works, it’s slower but it works. And that’s what matters, it works! I’ve learned so much from your videos I could never thank you enough.

Someone please put a 3HP motor in a dumpster so Matthias can upgrade ;)

Wow pushing it to the limit, the true test of how good a machine is. Great video Matthias, thumbs up.

It would be awesome to see you make plans for an outdoor sawmill or a small indoor one and built one.

"What if I damage the saw?"

I think I know a guy who could make a brand new one!

Making planks yourself gives great statisfaction. I bring my logs to a small local sawmill as i don't have a bandsaw. And i can't miss the space for a dedicated setup of one. However i would like to have a rolling bandsaw to saw planks with 😃.
You have been very inspiring for the last 10 years, so keep the good content coming!

The end of this video reminded me that you used to have that work shop! Been a while ☺️

Does my heart good to see you, or others, milling up discarded and chopped down trees into lumber. Especially now that lumber prices have become so much higher.

Also was good to see you on the 'Woodworking for Mere Mortals' channel, the other day!

Thanks for the content.
Keep up the good work.

I think all the work of setting up the saw, doing all the cutting, and then taking it apart at the end and cleaning it was worth it for those nice chunks of wood you got.

Reminds me of the recent worktop fitting I did. Cutting the corner join mitre with a router jig and only had a battery powered router Had to take like 1-2mm passes to not overload the wee thing. Slow and steady will get you there.

I bought a garden water pump specifically for a bandsaw because I was inspired by your videos, it's 1100 watts and was only 50 banana peels so can't go wrong 👌

How long before that wood could be used in a project? Would love to see it after it is cleaned up further in the Jointer/Planer

I've built the sliding table with the sleigh on the 1/2" rails (5 feet long) that allows 5 feet of travel (how? I offset the rails starting point 1.5 feet)
since I bought the sliding table table saw, I will repurpose my rail system for my bandsaw.

now that I saw you moving the bandsaw along the fixed log, it beats my idea, as it will resaw theoretically unlimited logs length. thanks for the inspiration. sometimes we need to see it, even if it sounds simple and obvious.

the sliding table solution allows a bit more control and accuracy.

Through the whole milling process I kept thinking, "didn't he have a better way to do this?". Yes! Your rolling bandsaw setup seemed really good. It would have been neat to see it on a track. Do you think you'll ever be back at a place where you have a dedicated wood shop where you can work on those very large projects again?

1:21 An excellent tool for washing hands from contamination with petroleum products, as well as from fireplace soot. You lather your hands and add this wonderful and free-of-charge scrub.

I have a request. I have a 10" bandsaw that is really annoying to use and would love to build a new one. A video about all your bandsaw sizes and which one you would recommend overall or for different types of work would be awesome.
