Wouldve been different if Saab tackled straight from behind. Hammer knew he'd get caught, so he ran to his left so he could set up the fend. That's called intelligence

Hammer defending at fullback…gassed from counting numbers and always shifting left to right…Saab, not saying he doesn’t, but doesn’t have to cover as much ground as a fullback, in my mind less fatigued…still Saab though…

Clearly Hammer did not choose to go full speed again here...he calmly waited and watched Saab on the big screen and expertly fended him off...it was pure class.
Hammer is playing a video game in these situations-toys with opposition

It's good to have speed but you need to know how to deflect a fend like that in 1st grade.

Hammer looked like he wasn't going at 100% and he was running with the ball which slows you down. Saab probably has him over 100m though, think Hammer would win over 40m.

In that scenario, Saab had him all day, every day, and twice on sunday. At full strength and in a different scenario I’d imagine it to be much closer.
