Maul is technically the hero of the season. All he wants is to stop anakin, he wants to stop order 66, he wants to stop palatine, but no one believes him.

When Darth Maul is terrified, it's already too late.

If someone has THAT MUCH fear and desperation in their voice, I would listen to them, especially someone like Maul. What does someone like Maul have to truly fear? He knew what was coming and no one listened. He was right; they would burn.

It's tragic that Maul wants to prevent Order 66, albeit in a reckless and twisted way, but no one is there to believe him.
Kinda reminds me of a certain ARC Trooper...

I... lack the words, even in my native language, to decribe the atmosphere of this episode. Haunting, depressing, chillingly and tragically beautiful? Everything is already set for the horror that's going to happen any minute now, the doom of almost all the character this show made us to care about, the last chances to avoid it - wasted, and nobody but Maul realizes it. His screams as he's being captured really convey the dread.
