In this video tutorial I will show you how to create a nice clean startup template for MODx Revolution.

The template will contain good SEO, HTML5 code, CSS reset, jQuery links, a favicon icon and basic wayfinder navigation to start off from.
Sorry for the loud audio when typing, this will improve later in the video.

It is better to have Ace plugin installed to make code-editing easier.

This is a good tutorial, but it just shows how tedious to use Modx is compared to Wordpress when dealing with design. Wordpress is still the most easy to use powerful CMS. Another one even better for design is Concrete 5 and Impresspages.

I did notice you didn't close your <header> section with <\header> ... but it seems to have worked without ;)

hi Menno when running the include I get this error

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in on line 14

any ideas ?

I have to disagree 100%
I used to work with Wordpress and all the .php files and loops are really hard to work with and customize.

Wordpress has a nice 1 click install, but if you want to change the layout of features of your template it becomes frustrating very fast.

MODX start with a blank page and you can use ANY html, framework, code you want... I will just work! MODX = Total creative freedom.
(btw this video is old, check out my 1-click MODX template flexibilitymodx)
