Показать описание
In this tutorial series we will be breaking down an HTML and CSS template and integrating it into MODX. While MODX is a fantastic CMS and has pretty decent documentation, I always find actual humans walking me through things to be helpful while learning a new platform.

IN THIS SECOND LESSON WE COVER:
basic settings
packages/extras
basic chunks
TV's(template variables)
To be ready for this tutorial you should have basic knowledge of HTML and CSS and have had watched the first lesson from this series.

Jesse, this is such a great video. Thank you for this.
I have just turned back to MODX from being away for about 8 years. This helped a lot in understanding TV in MODX

At first I was like "meh" with the GUI, but then amazed how easy it could be to turn html into dynamic page without having advanced knowledge about php and stuffs! Thanks for this great introduction to Modx!

To get your code editor to look like the one Jesse is using in the video, go to system settings, find "ace.theme" and change the value to "monokai". There are also a bunch of other theme names to choose from the grey dropdown you get when you click on it.

So far this is a hell of a lot easier than WordPress to convert any template. Reminds me of how Business Catalyst works.

My question is, can I do these changes in an editor like Brackets or Coda? I would rather not break my workflow too much just for one CMS.

Hey Jesse, how did you get that dark theme for Ace? Mine is just white/gray.

I've worked with a lot of CMS's... Drupal, Wordpress, October, Concrete5, etc... and this is by far (so far) the easiest to work with. I'm hoping (as I dive into it and learn it a little bit) I find that it can be built to be "Client friendly" as well... :) I would love some updated tutorials on the version 2.5... but so far, these Tuts are working brilliantly.

Thanks Jesse! Can't wait to so soak up more about this power house CMS.
