How does genetics make certain type dogs that are obsessed with chasing a ball?

I knew parents that adopted 4 children as Babies...one turned into a Doctor....one a normal Housewife....one a drug one a career being raised exactly the same. This tells me that personality is mainly genetic...

another issue is the interpreter and "reification" of actions as "traits". e.g., cloned (genetically identical) cows were rated aggressive or passive by observers based on inner or outer position in the field, cloned (essentially twin) cats were described as extroverted vs introverted by observers

Although Genes are an important factor that addresses our phylogenetic behavior, which is the history of species specific behavior that provides the organism with a basic repertoire of responses that interact with environmental conditions. However, that alone does not tell us why certain people would engage risky actions such as climbing a high mountain. In stead, every person has his or her own learning history (i.e., ontogenetic behavior) that developed a set of repertoires that can be delivered under the appropriate or relevant environmental settings or situations.
