Making a Lidded Pot Using the Pinch Method Part 1 Ceramics II Raku Project

We are using Standard 153 stoneware in our class for this project rather than our traditional raku clay body, to simplify the clay bodies they are dealing with should students be working from home while quarantined.

I made this video for my Ceramics II students at Mason High School.

I started my Youtube channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!

Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!

Greetings from Iceland. Thank you very much for these videos. I will try your methods for myself to make my first lidded pots. I have been following you for some time and have learned a lot from your videos. I have dabbled in ceramics for 1, 5 year and still have a long way to go. You are a great and caring teacher and your pupils are very lucky to have you. Thank you so much for giving "outsiders" like me access to your teaching. I really appreciate it. Take good care of yourself and be safe.

I am so glad for the kids that you're back at it. The time that you took to make all the videos during your time off, shows your character and dedication to your students. I don't know if you're teaching from home or if you're physically at the school, STAY SAFE. You're simply the best teacher. ❤ Wish you were mine when I was in High school 50 years ago🤫

I have learned soo much from you!! I wish I were a student at your school but this is definitely the next best thing for sure. I just want to let you know how much I and I’m sure so many other people really appreciate these videos!! Also, I have saved soooo much clay by having seen you spray your scrap clay with water!!! Thank you!!!

Thank for all you do for the kids and us! I recall seeing a video where you showed us how mend a broken piece of pottery. I am desperate to fix a gift for my doctor. I don’t have time to make a new one. Thank you. Happy Halloween 🎃
