Rational thinking is certainly an important skill; however, when it comes to decision-making, most of the work is done in the background. Sometimes, it's just about giving your brain the time and space to work through a problem.

I've always made perfect choices when trusting my gut. I ignored that instincts couple of times and I had couple of regrets. Always listen to your inner voice. 😉👍

That part of our brain is what constitutes unconscious bias. This bias has had a bad rep recently but it’s not inherently wrong. It’s informed by everything we learned and experienced. What’s important is that we question it because hurried decision often lead to mistakes. But what our “gut” is telling us is hugely important ❤️

Apparently there was a study on the link between decision making and emotion.

Tldr; When people had brain damage to the area in our brain largely responsible for emotional responses, they found those patients could hardly come to a decision. Always thought that was fascinating.

100% agree... Years ago I start to think that I've reading wrong, because I can't remember clearly a book I've read

This make so much sense... Instead of telling yourself that you need more dopamine, take a rest and enjoy some activity, just take a moment and just let your brain work and think how you can solve the problem you faced.
Personally I experienced that many times but understood that only now, lol...

My usual story - I face problem/mindblock that I can't penetrate, because my mind is overwhelmed with different thoughts. I start to get anxious, stressed, etc...
And rather than let myself think for a moment - I just distract myself, believing that when I'll get those positive emotions(dopamine), I will fix my problem. *WRONG!*
I just repeat the cycle. When I get those positive emotions, as soon as I get back to the problem - I still can't deal with it, because I didn't figure out how to. I just let myself feel better. So now I'm starting to get Anxious again.

But when I do what Simon explained - go for a walk in complete silence, with no music or distractions - I always was able to find solutions or new different ideas. Because I let my brain do its work.

Thank you Simon for this video and bringing clarity!

0:35 There is actually a neurological connecting between our gut and our brain (gut-brain axis). The gut feeling does in fact happen in our gut and our brain acknowledges it when it does. Then, we try to rationalise that feeling.

Currently reading The Untethered Soul, so any and all of Simon’s videos I watch I end up applying to what I read. There’s so many parallels it’s crazy...

Sometimes our most powerful thoughts come from our quietest thoughts, ie. Those from thhe subconscious

Something I often say in business is "Don't work Twice". Indecision in business usually comes with a lack of sound direction. I find knowing your process helps a great deal. Simply writing things down and having them ready to go when it's time to take new action.

That’s where creativity comes from!
It is important to forget to prioritize our thoughts and actions.

I'd rather trust my gut than my heart. It tells me when I am full and no longer hungry. My heart want's everything.

It shows in & on physical head & body too . If you are careful, it spreads on them too . & very quickly .

Simon is absolutely right. I always regretted it if I didn't listen to my instinct/intuition. From there comes always the truest answer or solution.

Yes, answers come to not when you are trying to think about it, in your conscious mind. It’s in the space of “no thought” where that happens. Could be your soul trying to guide you, but many are unaware of that space.

Research has shown that at the end of the day it's not the stats that inform most people's decisions, it's the stories we hear about real people. This last year hasn't demonstrated that over and over again. I love Dr. Caroline Leaf's advice about daily spending 17 minutes doing nothing, but perhaps looking out a window or actually being outside, because our creativity needs room to breathe and we can't get it by constantly taking in information or constantly thinking about things, we need to literally give our brains a rest every day, and not just while we're sleeping.
