There ain’t nothing like home cooking. Ours been getting for the last 8yrs. He in good shape and not fat. We also mix in some Gentle Giants dry. Please check out Gentle Giants dog food and tell us what you think. Guy claims he’s got Great Danes 17 yrs old and a lot of other big pups that are long lived. We all want our pups to live long. Love your information. ❤️👍🏻💪🏻🖖🏻🐾🐾🐾🙋🏼‍♀️

I have a Pit Bull who is mostly pure Bully. She is very picky used to love her all meat flavored high quality dog food, which was Chicken now as she's older she's more picky she's on a holistic dog food because she's 12 years old it's more on the diet side, they also have problems with gas which any potato recipe will have. I now have her on just Lamb and Rice and on a supplement for her digestion. People need to know unless your willing to go out of your way to properly feed Bully Breeds, don't bother owning them they are high maintenance dogs. Mine is a Show dog but has for the past 7 years been my companion. Bully breeds tend to get over weight easy to. Not bashing Pit bull owners I love them, but they come with health problems. Thanks Dr. For all your knowledge you give us.

we lost our blue rescue dane to dcm and heart failure DUE to grain free food. He was fine until we started to feed grain free. His cardiologist said he has seen a 200% increase in dcm DUE to grain free food. and he thinks it needs to be pullled from the market. we never had any other dane have ANY heart issues, we do rescue and have had aleast 30 dogs so far, and this was the only one who was ever fed grain free and he got it. it is NOT worth the risk feeding grain free. You are a blessing to us all. THANK YOU....

The Moral to the Story is:
They are messing with Our food and the dog food.
Everyone say something different about dogs food.
You don't know what to feed them.
Thanks for Sharing.

We feed our golden grain free because of allergies, however we do supplement with raw and food we make, i.e. chicken soup. Real bone broth! Great vid keep it up.👍👍👍

I was thinking it might have to do with spaying and neutering too young, eliminating or lowering heart helpful hormones. ??

Hello Doctor, great video. I have been feeding my 2 year old beagle Acana for a while now. He is lean but has a very sensitive stomach

i still believe our grain free feeding lead to my cattle dog's congestive heart failure. he had been on it his whole life (mostly canidae but we had switched to 4health for a few years prior) because of our other dog's allergies (she had to be grain free and chicken free, which is hard to find!). i still feel so horrible that i could have caused this trying to make my other dog as comfortable as possible. it's been 3 years since his collapse at 10 years old, and only in the last 6 months has he starting to finally show signs of kidney failure from the years of lasix to pull the fluid out of his chest, but thankfully his heart mummer has only gone from a 4 to a 5 in these 3 years and he's never had another collapse. we were originally given 6-12months and we've well surpassed that and hope for at least another year.

Great video thanks. I follow the recipe for home made food that you gave us. I.e. Chicken, organic peas, organic and sweet potato in the bone broth from the chicken. I purchase chicken thighs for $.79 per pound and cook up 4 lbs at a time in my Instant Pot. There's no long thin bone in it like the legs. I separate out the bones and freeze them to use next time in the bottom in the water so as to leach out as much from the bone as possible. If she's a bit loose, I add in rice otherwise I don't . I feed my 92 lb Shepherd this at night and after a hike in the morning. She has dried Eucanuba available 24/7 and can snack on it when she wants. She went from 112 lbs to 92 on this. The vet says to keep her at this weight and that she's just right weight-wise now. Also, she had a fatty lump the vet thought was benign just below her shoulder. I did the Fenbenzadole protocol with her 3 days on 4 off and the lump would get smaller on the 3 days on but resume its size after the 4 days, so I doubled the dose and gave it to her for 3 months. The lump got continuously smaller, very hard and then depressed inward. Now its gone. She also had huge black spots on her tongue from the time I got her at 2 years of age. They disappeared as well? I wasn't even considering them and one day when she was panting on a hike I noticed she had a totally pink tongue. I'm so grateful.

When this issue was first talked about, I suspected that some of these dry kibbles were swapping out meat protein for cheap fillers like peas, chickpeas, lentils, etc. which do not supply taurine.

Has there been any studies on pancreaitis and diet?

Excellent video. It seems that every vet is hostile and negative on grain free foods. I can't tell you how I'm shamed for admitting what I feed them and this should not be. I've researched and I feel I've got the best food I can buy. Why the hatred for grain free? If I give the vets my stats, they combat it with theirs. It's a losing battle. So frustrating.

What do people do if they have Celiac disease? Can they no longer have dogs?

Appreciate the video Doc, we're getting into Bully breeding and they sure can be finicky with diet lol, mostly raw diet seems to be the way with them.
