I’m so sad you didn’t watch an actual video with this! Mark King is such an amazing bass player and lead singer.. along with his iconic gum chewing. Michael Lindup with the falsetto. I love the 80’s ❤

Their "Lessons in Love" was another top 20 hit on the US charts in the mid-80s

Another vote for Level 42’s “Lessons In Love”! That song had a great baseline!

The funky bass part and the lead vocals are both from front man Mark King.

I love Level 42! What a great take! Mark King, the vocalist, is also the bass player and he's fantastic.

Love this group... This is my 2nd favorite song of theirs. Their best song imo is 'Leaving me now ".. A beautiful ballad.

"Running in the Family" is another fantastic track from Level 42. Incidentally, the bass player is also the lead singer.

Something About You was Level 42's very first Top 40 hit in America. The song did peaked at the #7 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the spring of 1986. Mark King was the front man, lead singer, lead bass guitarist and co-founder of Level 42. This song is a banger!!!

People don't give the lyricism of 80s UK synth pop enough credit. Bands like Level 42, Howard Jones, OMD, etc. - listen to the words. It's poetry, not just a few lines with a hook and bridge.

My eldest daughter is 33 now. When my wife went into labor (with our eldest daughter, ALL those years ago), this is the song that I remember playing on the radio as we rushed to the hospital. This song will always be very special to me. Whenever I hear it I always think about my daughter.

The 2nd British invasion of the 80's was amazing and Level 42 was part of that incredible wave. Mark King was so underrated as a base player and as a vocalist.

Back in the 80's in the UK this is what we called Jazz Funk; Mark king lead vocals and bass guitar brilliant!

Yaaassss!! Level 42! Finally! One of my favorite bands. Banger of a song from their catalog! So many great songs by them. You should see a video with Mark King slapping his bass. He has a unique way of playing it. Very talented. He is also the lead vocalist.
Next song should be "Lessons in Love" you can watch that video as it shows then playing the song.
"Love Games" was off their first album and more of a jazzy tune but so good!
"To be with you again" is a fantastic deeper cut single and It's Over is a heartbreaking break up song that brings tears.
