🇬🇧 YESSSS. M People. Lead singer Heather Small has just THE greatest voice. This is great to dance to. They had so many hits back in the day. This is from 1993. 🎶❤

M People were one of the better musical acts of the 90s from the UK. This song is from 1993. You should check out "One Night in Heaven" next.

So pleased you've discovered M People. A hidden UK gem for you guys across the pond. They were DEFINITELY 90s not 80s. Plenty to choose from including "How Can I Love You More", "Don't Look Any Further", "One Night in Heaven", "Proud", "Search for The Hero " and "Renaissance" to name just a few. Just to add, the reason they're called M People is after the "leader" of the band called Mike Pickering (the guy on sax). An influential Club DJ of the time who was part of the late 80's Chicago/Acid House scene in Manchester and the UK in general. A great DJ and remixer. This is his group.

Classic British 90s, there's a whole era of music here.

Do you know the internationally famous "Ride on Time" from 1989 ?? The original sampled Lolletta Holloway. There were legal problems, so it was re-recorded using Heather Small (before she was really big in M People).

1 song Heather sang for the 2012 Olympics in London called Proud. It's very inspirational.

In a similar British soul funk vein, try Soul II Soul and “Back to Life”
There was a glut of great soulful tunes around that time coming out of England.
The London label AcidJazz phenomenon was at its peak around then too….’88 to late 90’s.
Great memories.

Oh and from same era. Gabrielle - Dreams but the white label version. It was an underground club hit which launched Gabrielle into the charts but the radio version is more of a ballad. Trust me it's a classic you'll both love 👌🏻❤️

The name "M People" comes from the name of the group's founder, Mike Pickering ("Mike's People"), although many people assume that the "M" stands for Manchester, which is where the band's from (9 miles up the road from me). They formed in 1990. If you want to see another stunning British soul singer, check out Beverley Knight:

The early 90s had so many club bangers in the day. The influence of euro dance music, in particular, really was at an all time high. You should check out a song called "Mr. Vain" by Culture Beat. An amazing group out of Germany. This one had everybody dancing! 💯🔥

The name M-people stood for the main guy behind the group Mike Pickering, Mike was also the main guy behind dance sensations T-coy

What a voice! This era of music was just the best. Other great females from “across the pond” is Princess “Say I’m your number 1”, Mel n Kim “Respectable”, Showing Out”, Kylie Minogue “Shocked” “Step back in time”.
