jokes aside, i actually really like the point the 2nd verse made. it took a completely different turn than i was expecting after the first line. its completely true, alot of people - especially in america - arent being paid enough to support themselves because of inflation. the value of money is going down, but wages/salaries arent going up to balance it out, so you need to go to college to get a "good job" just so you dont go into poverty. i might be looking into this a little too much, but maybe this song's actually about the singer being underpaid and just wanting to have money to spend on things that arent essential (bills, groceries, etc), and struggling to have enough just for that, rather than just being really materialistic?
