I Bought A Small Sail Boat - 'Misty' The Ocean Tiny Home

A great day out on the water welcoming in the new lady in my life, Misty, the 26' International Folkboat. I can't wait to see the adventures we have and the oceans we sail. Basically a tiny house on the water! Bring on the islands... but first let's learn to sail a bit better😅

Well done mate, in one of my lives I was a sailing instructor and see you are on the right track with learning. I will not be critical however to help you I will on occasion offer suggestions. 1) you have winches on the boat, they are designed to take all the load off your body (which has just been repaired.) put at least one turn on the winch (clockwise) before you start to haul. If a sudden gust takes the line out of your hands it can be had getting it back with burns on your hands. 2) do learn your knots and how to tie off properly to a cleat. not just is it neat but if it is done the same way all the time, even on a dark stormy night you can undo it. 3) try not to sail with fenders hanging. You can lose them and it it poor etiquette. You have chosen a bullet proof boat you should be very happy with.

He is literally a kid in a candy store with this sailboat 😂 I'm looking forward to the new adventures!

I’d love to see a mini series on restoring or fixing up small things in the boat as you get it the way you want it! I love seeing where you’d store all your things on trips and how you’d organise the interior!

I didn’t expect that: awesome!!
By the way, word to the wise mate, sailing with your fender hanging out is the nautical equivalent of forgetting to zip your fly. 😊

Beautiful boat. I can so relate to this : Trying to convince the family that the boat is a good idea; dreaming about the adventures you will have; working out whether the family will actually come along; being nervous about having such a large boat to sail. Best of luck!

absolutely nothing wrong with an older boat, 3 years ago i bought a fishing boat and it is a 1970's and the motor for it is a 25hp 2 stroke from the 80's and i love it.
you do you and live your dream.

MAN, that was my Dads passion in life after the Marine Corps. After a couple wars he'd say he enjoyed the peace of sailing. He went all up and down east coast of US on it. So this is a new Rokkit Kit chapter? look forward to vids on the sail man, Cheers - J

Great boat. I'm very excited for you as I've had a similar one in the past. One thing that may help you when getting underway by sail is to always raise the rearmost sail first. This is so that the boat turns into the wind and makes getting the headsail out and set up much easier. Also practice "heaving to" in nice conditions like that so that it becomes second nature when you really need it. Wishing you fair winds always.

i think your channel is about to get very interesting. I've never wanted to sail in my younger years, and now I'm much older and realise I should have learnt the art while I was younger and keen. You think stuff out well and i can see Misty becoming more than your average 26ft sail boat.

I’m so happy for you. You are doing it the right way. Start small (but not to small) to learn. Mistakes on boats this size are very recoverable from. Keep up your enthusiasm! Love your experience every time you go out.

What a surprise!
I’ve insisted that my wife watch you explaining the background of the purchase and your plans/dreams.
An inspiration and insight into what personal growth looks like.
Meanwhile, we all live vicariously through you.
You’re much admired mate.

It's a real looker, congratulations on it! It's rare to see a YouTuber that dives, fishes, powerboats, kayak fishes, survives, cooks, AND sails. You're living the dream man! Cheers from Vancouver Island
