If you serve clients, you know what a challenge it can be to balance the workload, timing, sequencing + income. Listen to the entire discussion on my other YT channel, Two Sides of FI (financial independence) to learn how I turned fewer projects to my advantage and diversified my sources of income.

Good day, I'm an architect in the Philippines.

Agreed, This is also applicable here in our country.

Going solo was the best thing I could do for myself, but the passive income was something I could not very well establish for myself. So I totally downsized, and went provincial to live even more simply, not unlike yourself I moved to an Island (much larger than yours of course) with absolutely diminished daily cost. Long story short, I made it so my cost of living was way way lower than my income cycle. I live much better and happier overall.

Such an important information, not only for business, but for life. I believe if architects take care of the financial side of their life, that will lead to better quality products due the stress relief of what you mention in this video. That is amazing because better quality proyects will always lead to better quality cities in my opinion.

As always, thanks for your content, Eric. Cheers!

Tell this to my boss, he says yes to any job, and as a result quantity over quality. Always looking for the next money stream

I am definitely on the hamster wheel with my firm. The tough part is getting to the point where you can sustain a minimum income and take on less projects.

agree. in my sole practice, I enjoy take less projects, try to get better payment for this and find better clients whom appreciate the quality design rather than spitting out rubbish to make bread & butter money, but thats a lifetime's work in progress isnt it.

I've also found that taking on too many projects has led me to burnout and took away from the enjoyment of seeing a project through. Thinking of creating design plans for backyard offices as a way of generating passive income, but am unsure how I would prevent others from selling my work. Any thoughts?

I know it’s a broad question but how to get a passive income then? I don’t see myself selling cool notepads at all.

Ps : Love your work Eric, and really appreciate your output on FI.
