I can not believe you missed the BEST example of Chuck's priorities. As he walks ashore to the island, he checks two things.... his beeper and the photo of Kelly... in that order.

Also, I think Wilson represents Kelly, as she was with him on the island. Losing Wilson before his rescue was a premonition of when he realizes that Kelly is lost to him. New Wilson represents the possibility of a new relationship, we hope with Bettina.

Imagine at the end of the movie he took it to the person, and they opened it right infront of him to reveal a satellite radio and fishing rod.

Pretty much nailed it. The island is a metaphor for how Chuck isolated himself from Kelly and other friends and acquaintances prioritizing his own work instead. It's not until he learns the value of having relationships that he can get off the island and re-enter society.

I thought the moral of the story is don't use FedEx, they will lose most of the packages in the ocean, rooting the remaining ones, and the only package that's still here will be returned to the sender four years later.

Jars of Salsa were in the box, with a note of hope. There was a scene in the script that was ultimately cut, where Chuck opened it and read the following note "You said our life was a prison. Dull. Boring. Empty. I can't begin to tell you how much that hurt. I don't want to lose you. i'm enclosing some salsa, the verda you like. Use it on your sticky rice, and think of home. Then come home --to me. We'll find the spice in our lives again. Together. I love you. Always. Bettina"
