FedEx Employee Gets Stranded On An Island For 4 Years | Movie Recap

Movie Title: Cast Away.

On route to deliver FedEx packages, Chuck Nolan (played by Tom Hanks) gets in a plane accident and is stranded on an island, all alone by himself. In his quest to not feel lonely, he befriends a volleyball p (found in one of the FedEx packages), and names it Wilson. Will this FedEx employee survive ?

This is EASILY one of the best movies ever made.
The fact that he doesn't get back together with his wife really hits home and makes it more realistic, instead of being just another "lovers reunion" flick.

As a former fedex employee i can safely say what caused the crash was either a miss labeled hazmat or a box without an unsafe to fly sticker, sadly in my experience ive seen people carelessly miss placing even label hazmats, ect.

This underrated movie is one if the best stories about the psychological impact of isolation and crippling loneliness.The case in point being this man's best friend was a soccer ball named Wilson.The company's brand.When he lost it at sea he cried as if it were a living thing.Powerful stuff.

I didn't even watch the video, just wanted to drop in and share the fact that as a kid someone explained this movie to me and I didn't really understand, and lived under the assumption that he survived by eating the actual FedEx packages (cardboard, package contents, etc) until like the age of 15

That last scene at the dirt road intersection was pretty powerful, representing the crossroads in life we face. Great movie.

Chuck went back to visit with Bettina after she left him at the crossroads. With that last look she gave him, who wouldn't! She was in the barn getting ready to do some work. She invited him to join her in having a cool iced tea. Chuck explained to her all that had happened and how that package sustained his faith that he would return home from the island.

This was better than any therapy he could ever have. She was kind and listened with her heart.
It wasn't his intent to find love, but rather to find himself and a path forward.
Delivering that package, was the key to that journey.

Eventually they would fall in love and live happily ever after, but it took a lot of time for her to learn to trust again and for him to open his heart to her after losing Kelly. Bettina added Chuck's name to the arched entry to her land.
They named their first child Wilson!
