Please note that these are all alleged claims against clever programmer.

Avoid the mistake I made, please code for at least 6 months to 1 year before going to a bootcamp (if you must), master just these HTML, CSS, JavaScript (DOM), Git and maybe go to a top tier Bootcamp otherwise you will not get the most out of it, you will be playing catch up and not learning the hard topics.

I remember talking to you about this, I’m almost done with my coding boot camp & I couldn’t be happier. I feel like I need the structure.

I agree..coding bootcamp prices are insane..consistency is still key. Delegate few hours a day coding and do it everyday from one project to another. That's when you'll realize the benefits of being in a self taught route. There's a lot to learn from. It's crazy but so will the pay be. Thank You for this video sir Sean, .

Your very first statement is 100% true.. DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST. I did bootcamp because I needed a learning structure. I can do self study approach but I tend to steer away that's why I enrolled in bootcamp. But before enrolling, I did my own research. Checked the institutions legitimacy, reviews, feedback, success rate etc. Plus it was a recognized institution by the government and was able to get a student loan too!

I used to make MySpace page layouts from scratch on 2006. Now I'm 35 and thinking I should learn to code because that was so much fun for me then. Just didn't know where to start. Guess I re- learn HTML, then css, and Javascript. Til your video I was convinced I needed to start with Python.

I agree 100% don't go to boot camp until you understand the basics. I did and after I went to a boot camp which I did a back ground check for ( including the BBB) and after I graduated from the school they helped me connect with ppl and get hired! TrueCoders if your curious

i went to a bootcamp it was easy because i used python fro fun prior but it pieced together alot of concepts fast forward 3 years and im almost done with my undergrad in CS. bootcamps definitely get you the job but if you're competing with a cs grad theres no way you're gonna outperform them.

I remember when rejected idea of learning from a bootcamp and learn everything from YouTube and documentation for free of course. Now I'm earning good and on the path where I wanted to be and still going hard.

I’m in a boot camp right now and the last 3 minutes of the video where you say PREPARING for the boot camp by learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript ~BEFORE STARTING BOOTCAMP~ is spot on.

Boot camps teach you a lot in a short timeframe but I started the required pre-work about two whole…WEEKS before it started and that was like shooting myself in the most important artery in the leg….big mistake to go in as a complete beginner without preparing first 😅

I remember watching your channel like crazy in 2017, going to a bootcamp. It’s good to see you changing and advancing with new technologies. I work as a FE developer at a big company. I am currently learning python and debating between DS or DE to further my career. It’s really great to see you playing with DE as well

I just started for a bachelors in CS. Figured I should learn some things before I jump into some internships and whatnot. Learning that I should probably do a boot camp too (or instead) was a sting, but honestly, I’m ok with it. I just hope doing both and teaching myself a bit along the way all while working full time isn’t a mistake 😅

Hey, been watching your channel for some time. I been doing self taught since June of this year. I’m 23yrs old a nursing student college drop out. I have a few projects under my belt with vanilla JS html & css. Plan to start learning react & git next month. I just trying figure out if once I complete all these languages and have projects how i will be able to land interviews. I wonder a lot if i should go back to school (2.5yrs min for cs degree) or attend a bootcamp for its networking capabilities. I’m disciplined enough to learn the material and follow through with it. Only part I struggling with right now is the looming cloud above my head wondering if Im going down the right path. Like how will i be able to land interviews or network with people when i live in a rural town. Feel like I’m ranting now so yea that’s it.😅

Any thoughts on the Holberton Coding School in Puerto Rico?
Will be atrending an Open House on Friday, but would like to get as much info as possible beforehand.

I must add that I have zero experience in coding. Just a nearly 30-year old looking for a way to reinvent themselves.

Thanks in advance

When you make claims, it’s hard to back it up. I wouldn’t mind doing a bootcamp, but the barrier of entry for software/web development is much higher than what it used to be. Even though there are several jobs, no one really wants to hire self taught, unless you have a huge project with different coding languages

I’m thinking of committing to a boot camp for full stack next month. I have the skills from self teaching to do front end work with a whole portfolio. I just think I should go because of the networking to finding jobs. The school and curriculum work on MERN. But I’m cheap and trust myself, this is a hard decision low key lol

As a bootcamp grad, this is what you are paying for exactly (no matter the year)

- a curriculum
- accountability
- personal development bc of high stress + high social situation combo
- personal development from observing others perform under high stress + high social situation
- added motivation bc you paid so much so you feel pressure to get more out of it
- gamified learning through bootcamp situation

If you can offer all this to yourself - good for you. I think it is worth the money.
But make sure you don’t choose the most expensive ones; just look at their completion rate and if it’s good that’s enough.
You might wanna pay extra for proven good career services but just know that every cent you pay beyond the lets say 7000 dollars is money you pay for these services. If they don’t provenly deliver it’s not worth it.
