What could *Danielle Pletka, * who was not born in the U.S., possibly mean by asylum seekers _"swarming"_ the place and _"driving up inflation"?_ Not long ago, an NBC Nightly News segment featured workers at a *Nebraskan bakery, * revealing how they were responsible for Nebraskans buying multiple bread packages at meager prices. I'm willing to bet the immigrant workers who lost their lives when the *Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed* didn't get extraordinary wages for the tedious work they did in service of Americans. On the contrary, these workers are *responsible for relieving* Americans of inflation! They often pay into social safety nets, even though they rarely benefit from them. I am also curious about the so-called "luxury" *four* or five-star hotels* where migrants stay. Homelessness and underserving war veterans are *government failures, * but hey, let's blame asylum seekers. Why not blame them for America's foreign wars, natural disasters, mass shootings, and other problems? Isn't it the "American way" to brag about being _"a nation of immigrants"_ while being hostile to immigrants? — not different from how it boasts about being _"a nation of laws"_ while disregarding international laws.
