It’s a strange attack line because mixed heritage is the story of America. So many Americans are of mixed heritage, and know what it means to acknowledge and celebrate both sides of their ancestry. You have Italian Americans, Polish Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans, Indian Americans, Irish Americans, etc etc. I think most Americans understand that recognising one aspect of their heritage doesn’t automatically mean disowning another aspect.
