Alain's Charizard was very experienced with its moves and battle strategy and mega evolution gives it dragon type which makes water type neutral against him and on other hand greninja wasn't much experienced with its moves and ash and greninja never use bond phenomenon to make greninja more powerful and skillful against other megas, and ash always rely on Pikachu but he never gave more time to his other regional pokemons, today's greninja will be more powerful and experienced about its ability and moves which make it more powerful against alain's Charizard

Alan'5 charizard had more more experience than ash's Greninja....that charizard had fought to so many mega pokemons and was with him since long unlike ash's Greninja had just evolved then and was with him from just a series

Ash greninja should've won, and yes it was on pair with mega gardevoir, it was a trouble for diantha even when it had just discovered the power, you can see in diantha's face during the battle, and that kalos strategic ash not even thiinking of a strategy against charizard just proves that ash should have won
