The struggle of social interaction is real, especially when you plan out the minimal interaction possible, and you're still forced into it.

I'm half and half. I can walk up and speak to ANYONE some days and then others, I don't even want to leave the house. THE HUMAN BRAIN IS CRAZY!

She just came out and asked for a straw like it was nothing!

I'm neurodivergent and extroverted! Imagine being unaware of certain social expectations and being assertive at the same time. I wish I could think about things before I do them... I just do them and embarrass myself.

I feel her. I get that feeling so often. The wonder of how some people are brave enough to just ask for things. If i already left the conversation it is really hard for me to go back and even during it take a lot to remind anyone that something is missing. I love to know that I'm not alone out there.

So I too order on the app because once i open my mouth i can NEVER for the life of me remember what the hell i wanted. Even reading it, i start panicking and twisting my words. Ive gotten a lot better over the years. eventually found out online that im not the only one and that people have it way worse.

BUT as a nurse, im also an advocate. So, there have been TIMES when i order via app and pick up thru drive thru and the barista just HAS to tell me "oOH...you JUST ORDERED IT? UGH. THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE AHEAD OF YOU, BUT I GUESS WE CAN PUT YOURS AHEAD OF EVERYBODY ELSES BUT JUST THIS TIME"

Idk why they would say this, but i would feel bad and have panic attacks in the frikin drive thru!
So finally one day i took all my courage and STOPPED at the window to ask who told me that thru the speaker. Then i asked her " i would like to know why you said that to me ? You could've said. Ok. Got it. Itll be ready at the window have a nice day. But no. PLEASE tell me what you would say to me if i was a customer that did not order ahead thru the app but instead ordered at the speaker? Like Were you trying to make me feel bad for ordering AHEAD? Excuse me, but do you know why most people even use the app? They have SOCIAL ANXIETY. I do to but not as severe as most people. They feel like SHIT AND HAVE Panic attacks if they have to speak to anyone. Even nice people. So please if you hate your job dont take it out on good people. Find another job.

Then i drove off and had a panic attack 😢 😭

I think my husband and I are both “undiagnosed something” lol and we had a very heated whisper argument about who was emotionally available to ask for a jump for our dead car battery in the parking lot this morning 😂

Hero is right If you've ever been on the verge of tears because you're stuck in asking paralysis. Queues and attention-getting can be overwhelming.

My life changed so much when I accepted the idea that I'm supposed to ask for what I want !

My boyfriend is a chef so we like NEVER order out.
The other day, we had no kids and he just got out of work, so I offered to order us food in so he could just start relaxing.
I dropped $90 on take out for us and we ordered from my favorite restaurant of all time and I ordered my feel good food that always makes me have a good day.
They got my boyfriends order right and they got mine wrong.
I just got sad quietly and made myself dinner lol I couldn't bring myself to call and ask for what I asked for.
Lived. Disappointed, but made it lol

Making the switch from "girl with adhd" to "my wife is neurodivergent" has made these reels so much more palletable to me personally. Nice work!

I started working in a club. Because i thought this is a possibilty to work on my social anxiety.
One time i worked in the play area, it was a room to play and talk, so no loud music. There were these people who made a big noise. I politely asked them not to do that because of the other guests. (I'm a little skinny girl.) A Bodybuilder (looked like he has all rights on his side) told me the other guests should go. I said " but you could go also." He instant got smaller and they stopped to make noise.
From this point on everytime i am insecure, i think of how this big strong man got smaller because of my simple sentence. That helps a lot.

Awww, it's so sweet that the girl did that for her. I have extreme social anxiety, so i probably would have just walked out without a straw, lol.

OMG. and also after working at the 'bucks for a couple years, starting a request with "can i get.." makes me nuts 😂😂 so harsh on the ears when you hear it hundreds of times a day. But the asking for something dread is so real

My friend and I both are like this but find it easier when we are trying to help each other. She wanted to know the return policy but didn't want to ask, and for some reason the want to help her feel comfortable shopping overcame my reluctance to speak, so I asked for her. When taco bell got my order wrong to something I couldn't eat, I was contemplating starving, but she confronted them for me.

She didnt only get denied the straw, but she also lost a spoon in the process... I hate it when stuff like this happens!
