Just found your channel and have been scared to try oils for years. You’re really getting me excited to take the leap, thank you. I had a millions questions but you get straight to the point and simplify it wonderfully.

I've been using tesco's white spirt for both. Cheap and good results. I'm not sure about longevity, though.

If I could only choose one medium to paint with the rest of my life, it would definitely be walnut oils medium.

So I pre prep the canvas with liquid white and then I use medium with my oil paint for the first few layers? Then I start gradually getting thicker and thicker psintv

With alkyd medium you don't have to do the fat over lean. But I still think people should learn the discipline of fat over lean first.

Any alternative solvent thats a at home item for a short period of time. I'm still saving money to buy an actual solvent

How toxic or dangerous are oil painting with watermixable oils? I wat to learn to paint with oils but I live in a small 300sq feet single room apartment. Which means that I'll have to sleep and live in the same room as the drying paintings. And I'm afraid I can't do that because of toxic fumes ans stuff when they dry
