My body tells me what to eat, but I’ve been used to eat a whole foods plant based diet for 14 years. From time to time, my body tells me to eat more of some kind of veggies. I go to supermarket and I buy what my body tells me to do buy (and it’s never ultra processed food - always fresh food). The other day I was hungover, feeling awful. I had already eaten a hearty healthy breakfast, but my body told me to eat broccoli and chickpeas. I ate a whole steamed broccoli and a chickpea salad with nori, pure olive oil, nutritional yeast - I felt better straight away after. Sometimes I feel like having melted 100% dark chocolate with berries. Sometimes I feel like having a few satsumas. I always listen to my body for food, and my health is excellent. I don’t have any health issues, not even headaches or period pain, and I always feel happy. I can’t feel said even if I try 😂

I imagine a world where we teach children to listen to themselves.

Who's the female grad student who brought the idea of studying intuition to his lab?

I have a mom’s intuition. This week while overseas I felt something wrong w my youngest son (30) I was able to contact and found out his family dog had been run over. I also have known my friend was sick, my ex was getting married etc.

I’m highly intuitive. I was born that way, my mom is the same. My mom who is very grounded has even said she thinks ESP comes down her mother’s side. I’m highly drawn to intellectuals and academics. My son is blessed. He is both.

This weekend I was overly inspired and chose to find simple ways to do something for my community and soon after I noticed how it left me drained, broke and questioning my whole existence, mainly my mind. It's not the first time I make nonsensical kid's decisions at my age of 48, but goshhh, it's so embarrassing to one day consider myself an intuitive person, then the next question everything that has to do with my internal mental/spiritual landscape.
By the way, I found some sort of peace thanks to synchronistic gifts, which Im grateful for. "Making Peace With The Inner Saboteur" YT video popped up and forced myself to listen to it actively and actually had the best sleep after. Waking up is another story, but ohh, well we all go through life at our own developmental pace. It's not a (spiritual) race.

This was tonight's gift btw. Thanks to you guys for your kind service on this earth.

Sending bucketloads of momentous vibes to everybody on their individual journey.

I love seeing the sparks happening in people when they exist in uncertainty, including in these two great individuals in this interview when brainstorming about this subject. Our next step in evolution is to overcome our animalistic responses to need to feel "safe", to interpret uncertainty as a "bad" thing. We know so little. Yet we act like we know much more than we do. We do have "free will" but only if we evolve past the mammal survival genetics. And this can absolutely be achieved with practice of mindful awareness. Thank you for this episode!

my first experience 1980 I guess, was dramatic, I had an overwhelming NEED to move… I was playing some type of game at a table. when I stood up and moved, a huge 1980 type 3ft speaker fell off the ceiling mounting and landed in the chair I had been sitting in. I was just shocked that I had this intuition to move right in the nick of time.

My husband participated fully in the fellowship 25-years until his death) and conducted a twelve step study. I would comment to him that those of us who are not addicted to alcohol&drugs would greatly benefit from studying the steps. His growth as a hu/man being was amazing to watch unfold before my eyes 💕

I think he's really trying to explain awareness and perception, which is also rare nowadays because of all the technology and conditioning. However intuition is something that's ethereal and he's trying to encapsulate it in a nice neat package, which I personally don't think is possible, so trying to follow him, especially when Rich rightfully challenges him, is difficult.

Rich, thank you again for another great interview. Your shared experience and ways of bringing it all together is excellent.

Some of what Joel is saying about mastery reminds me of the cognitive concept of expertise which they touched on when talking about athletes or chess players when they get to a point where they just "know" what to do next but couldnt put it in words to explain it to someone else. Its like a emotional, environmental awareness expertise which obviously some people are going to be better st than others

I don't know Rich. Your guest didn't have a lot of studies or information backing this.

Being that I have Aphantasia as part of me now. I can honestly tell you that I prefer not being so empathetic. Reason, being empathy doesn’t help anyone. It just brings more misery to everyone. Compassion on the other hand… will help you to help others! I have lots of compassion! So thank you for pointing out, it wasn’t even my choice. Because I thought it was. I thought I had made my mind up to become compassionate instead of empathetic. A lot of peeps out there that are misinterpreting lack of empathy nowadays…. Their problem, not mine, I study the things that are considered a problem, and I fix them in myself. Because I have compassion for myself too. Much love

At 1:17:00 Dr Pearson's discussion reminds me of a case study by Dr Oliver Sacks about a man, blind from birth, who had his sight surgically restored as an adult. But despite trying for months(?) he couldn't adequately incorporate the sensory information coming in from his eyes, and ended up doing what he could to minimize his visual input to return to life as it was before the operation.
