you should definitely do a tour of icewm, it is very underrated, it comes with a panel, logout and shutdown features out of the box, a dynamic menu out of the box, startup.
and all this is done via very easy configuration file

Joining you on Cinnamon! Been using i3 and Gnome mostly, but Cinnamon feels much better integrated as a whole, not like it's a puzzle of stitched pieces. And it looks better than most DE by default

Absolutely my choice too. My choice is like this KDE > Cinnamon > Gnome. Cinnamon really feels best and doesn't overwhelm some users like kde and doesn't have lack of customizability like gnome. It is the perfect balance between these two

Can't disagree with you! I have cinnamon on my arch install and it's simply amazing

i have thought that your fav DE was KDE :) cinnamon is really nice. my fav DE is xfce but i think window managers are more appealing to me. my fav WM is i3.

mine favourite de is also cinnamon, and for standalone floating wm, it is icewm, and for dynamic (tiling) wm, it is i3wm

Since its release in 2011, it has continuously improved, and to a point where it provides seamless user experience. Thanks for another great video Ermanno.

That's amazing because that is exactly the DE I also use as alternative from Qtile if I have to be on the Desktop. I like Elegance for the desk theme. For me the thing with Cinnamon is that it feels like a modernized LXFCE, a fully fledged desktop environment that is still light and flexible for my usage. KDE is lovely but feels too fully loaded, Gnome, can have a little too many quicks and rigid in it's structure, but it's getting good too.

I wish cinnamon could support 1:1 gestures as happens in Gnome 40 and Pantheon, that would make it fantastic! Anyway, it is still one of the best DE out there, a good balance between customisation and usability, users switching from other OSes will find almost all the functions they were accustomed to, without any of them being removed (system tray, e.g.). Another part that could be a little improved is Workspace Overview, I don't know why but it feels somewhat dated if compared to what Gnome or Pantheon can do nowadays... Thanks for your video! Hope you recovered well!

Keep work Ermanno.

My favorite DE is Gnome with Dash to Panel and ArcMenu extensions.

Same favourites for me, Cinnamon and bspwm. Cinnamon is a more usable Gnome and bspwm (+ polybar) is minimal and simple, perfect together with arch

Hello Sir!

I left a comment mentioning dual boot on your previous video (Arch Linux Monthly Install with Sway). After that I was wondering how I could contact you so I figured leaving a comment on the next video would be sufficient..

What I wanted to say is about partition scheme and what I did to make my partitions work exactly the way I want them to on a 1 TB HDD.

So I created a single 50 GB Partition for the installation of Windows. And 50 GB for installation of Linux.

The rest 900 GB was used by a single partition which works on both Windows and Linux.

So basically what I did was create a mount point directory for the 900GB partition when installing Arch. I did it using commands

# mkdir /mnt/900GB
# mount /dev/sda3 /mnt/900GB

[Replace 900GB with partition name and sda3 with the partition number of which it belongs to]

After that's done, all I had to do was install the ntfs-3g package and voila! The 900GB partition is now accessible from both Windows and Linux!

OT: Must be a great video as always! I haven't watched it yet but I'll say my favorite DE is XFCE :)

Great Video: The Cinnamon desktop "so far" has always worked great on all my distros, so I would have to agree its my favourite as well.

I have just switched back to XFCE after many months away and I am happy to be back, for a WM I am a BSPWM convert. I have not used Cinnamon for quiet some time might give it a whirl in a VM.

I went from kde plasma to cinnamon desktop about a couple of months. It works well and very stable. Using manjaro cinnamon on home and work. Yes, the settings are enough to make a nice looking desktop. Global menu applet is the thing I dream to be on cinnamon.

Arch, Mint, MX... Cinnamon DE on everything... SpectrWm & LeftWm on everything as well... I use a WM mostly and on some systems I use just Cinnamon with a WM as a option too... :-)
Fell in love with Mint (2nd Os) tried Ubuntu 16.04 (1st) and did not like it. Been a Cinnamon fan for all the reason you showed, it is fancy enough for Me...
Thanks for the video

I've used bspwm, I love I can dynamically configure it from the shell but it doesn't work with slack (sharing a screen) thus had to quickly switch to dwm and found it just a great workhorse

Arch + GNOME here and even when I disagree with your DE of choice I liked your video :-D

For those of us who use HiDPI displays, could you do some videos on how to set it up for both DE and WM alike? As always, terrific content 👌🔥🔥
