Jay Shetty sits down with Andrew Huberman to talk about the beauty and power of the human mind. We are all wired to feel emotions based on our experience, on our perception of what is happening around us, and on what we anticipate to happen in the future. And the most fascinating thing is that our mind perceives time differently and is dependent on how we feel.

Dr. Andrew Huberman is a tenured Professor of Neurobiology and Ophthalmology at Stanford School of Medicine. His laboratory studies neural regeneration and neuroplasticity, and brain states such as stress, focus, fear, and optimal performance. His podcast, The Huberman Lab, discusses neuroscience and science-based tools, including how our brain and its connections with the organs of our body control our perceptions, our behaviors, and our health, as well as existing and emerging tools for measuring and changing how our nervous system works.

What We Discuss:
00:00 Intro
03:05 The beauty and utility of Biology
07:13 How has our relationship with learning been formed over time?
12:24 The best way people can approach learning
21:14 What happens while we sleep
31:05 Are there healthy symbols for the brain?
42:57 Self-training in healthy amounts of dopamine
44:41 The dopamine reward prediction error
49:35 Dopamine can distort our perception of time
52:56 How do we become comfortable in the discomfort of change?
01:03:45 There’s one trial learning of negative experiences
01:14:00 In some relationships, there is a need to bring in dopamine
01:20:59 Tattoos and symbols
01:27:14 Andrew on Final Five

This video was nothing less than PHENOMENAL education. This teaches more than my professors taught me as a Biology and Psychology double major. I'm hoping so many people in my life and worldwide get a hold of this video. Thank you Jay and Andrew.

Usually I don't comment. But honestly this podcast helped me so much and thank you for making a impact in this world 🌍. Mental health is real. Ever since I have been listening to you, my perception of the world has definitely changed. Our minds are just like diets, whatever you feed it can affect you on the exterior. Thank you for posting

I’ve been listening to Dr. Huberman for quite some time, but when you said that you could feel his heart in things… That hit the nail on the head for me. Dr. Huberman‘s love of science and sharing knowledge is what truly keeps bringing me back to learning from him.thank you for a great podcast

I believe it's best not to dwell too much on mental health or delve into complex terminologies. Instead, focus on mastering simple practices like enjoying coffee, getting sunlight, cold exposure, maintaining a balanced diet, exercising, practicing prayers and meditation, and learning how to be a hard worker and high performer according to your environment and situation. Your brain's subconscious is like a supercomputer, and if you feed it with too many negatives, you'll start to feel the pain. If you don't have specific issues, just stick to the basics and maintain a positive outlook. Remember, your thoughts can become reality. Our grandparents lived to be 120+ because they didn't overthink things.

Andrew is one of my favorite ppl online. He is brilliant and I’ve learned a lot from him. I watch his podcast religiously. Thank you for being a great interviewer and not interrupting your guests. Many interviewers lack that skill. Thank you BOTH ♥️

I was just listening to Humberman's podcast yesterday and reading "Think Like a Monk" to my mom and doing the vedic personality quiz with her 😍 I'm from Mexico and I've been a huge fan of both of you for a long time now, I love what you both do and how you transmit knowledge (scientific and spiritual). I'm very passionate about both subjects and it's wonderful to see how you can integrate them to improve your health and life quality. Thank you for doing this! I think it's my favorite episode on the podcast so far. ❤️

I do admit that Huberman's talk has helped me to change the way I used to think in terms of learning new skills and working on something. I do appreciate all of his efforts to spread the knowledge he has to all of us.

I feel this podcast has improved my life already. I am grateful for the information that has been shared by Andrew Huberman and the platform and wonderful questions asked by Jay. I know instinctively that the early sun exposure idea is a valuable idea. I had a flashback to when I was a child and wanted to get outside in the day as soon as possible. I have gotten much removed from that in recent years. Thanks for the many insights. Rachel

Ohh .. the last answer blew my mind. So true! So relatable as recently my mom lost her temper due to a harmless question I asked her to know her opinion and she delivered so harsh words for me that I was morally so down that I got sick for a day.

Damn. I'm a fairly avid consumer of Huberman Lab already. I'm only around half an hour in, and my brain is literally buzzing as if I was plugged into the socket in the wall lol. Thanks for this. It's absolutely amazing and stimulating.
