4 Possible Causes of Painful PERIODS | Menstrual Cramps
Показать описание
Most people who menstruate experience period pain at some stage in their lifetime.
Pain associated with menstruation is called dysmenorrhea.
There are two types of dysmenorrhea: primary and secondary.
Secondary dysmenorrhea is caused by a disorder within the reproductive organs.
The pain tends to get worse over time and it often lasts longer than normal menstrual cramps.
This video focuses on the possible causes of secondary dysmenorrhea.
1. Endometriosis: This happens when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows in other areas of the body like the Fallopian tubes, ovaries.
2. Fibroids: These are growths that form on the outside, on the inside, or in the walls of the uterus.
3. Adenomyosis: This develops when tissue that normally lines the uterus begins to grow in the muscle wall of the uterus.
4. PID (also known as pelvic inflammatory disease): This is an infection of the female reproductive organs.
If you have painful periods, you and your healthcare provider should talk about your symptoms and your menstrual cycle.
