Had the right knee done 23 years ago. Left done 2014. No problems. Best thing I did. No limp. Walk like I used to. I'm 86.

I had a knee replacement 3-4 years ago. To this day it is no better than before the replacement. I've had 3-4 major surgery's in my life and the knee replacement pain was by far the worst I have ever experienced. Im not willing to go thru that again.

I had total knee replacement in sept of 2017 right knee exactly two months later the day before Thanksgiving my left knee was done. I can’t take pain meds just took Tylenol in hospital and home. I had no pain, no problems at all . I was 68 and this summer I worked wine harvest for my son walked 8 to 10 miles a day and climbed up and down stairs all day 6 days a week for 3 months. Best thing I ever did for myself excellent doctor and excellent hospital

Finally possible answers to tightness, squeezing, painful sensation I’ve been experiencing since my TKR in 2017. Surgeon won’t take me seriously when report my symptoms and concerns. (Had total reconstruction of same knee at age 13) He won’t listen to this highly educated RN that something is wrong with this knee. Will be sharing your video with PCP, Thank You, I now have hope it’s not in my head.

Good explanations in this video, I had my left knee done 4 years ago. Just had my right knee done 6 weeks ago. I am in constant pain with both of them, they ache so bad that I find it impossible to stand up or walk for more than 10 minutes, I have to find somewhere to sit. Followed all of my physio exercises, I go to the gym and swim 2 or 3 times a week. 70 years old and I feel I have no quality of life. Worked hard all of my life as a scaffolder, now I can hardly walk. Just for good measure my hips are starting to ache

I had a total replacement. A year later I had a revision. I couldn't bend it much or totally straighten it. Also had a lot of pain. After the revision I am functional. My knee only bends at almost 90°. I was better off not having it. I had my knee bent under anesthetic doctor said I got it to bend. Yeah right.
I will not have another. This video was right to the point no fluff. Thank you.

I had a knee replacement and 18 months later had a revision. The first time it was done incorrectly. Another words, they did the knee replacement a second time. I was in constant pain. All I have to say is the aftercare after the surgery is just as important as the procedure. Good physical therapy is a must! It has been 9 years since my revision and it feels great. Do research on your surgeon and check their credentials!

Love this video and how I wish, one of those problems was mine. I've had 38 knee surgeries on my left knee and the result is that I can no longer bend it. A year ago I had my 5th surgery on my right knee and I'm in so much pain when I have to bend it, like sitting and standing. I'm 66, and my mobility is very poor. If they can't find what's wrong with this knee I feel as if I'm going to be permanently in a wheelchair soon. I wish everyone a speedy recovery and pain free life.

My knee replacement was March 2021 and I'm still having pain, swelling and movement problems. The P.A. said everything looks normal and will see me back in 1 year . I hope to God that all is much better when I'm checked again. I can't stand to live in pain! My Osteoarthritis is painful enough in my body, and now more pain to contend with my knee replacement 😫

Thank you doctor for explaining about pain in the knee after TKR. Two yrs after the knee, still I often feel tightness around the knee. I am going deep tissue massage therapy and started to go the gym to strengthen my quad muscles. That helped. Walking is still not that great. Going for the 2nd knee soon. Hopefully then both knees support me walking. Stairs are some what hard. I am 79 yrs old. In fair health. Once again thank you. 🙏🏻

I am in a stage of advanced osteoarthritis. Only with the exercises I am dragging.
Thinking about a full replacement.
Thanks a lot doctor for giving patients such valuable information about post surgery problems.

I had a total knee replacement in 2006. I had problems right away extreme stiffness that would not go away. In 2007 I had a partial revision with a replacement of the patellar component and removal of excessive scar tissue. This only worsened, and to this day, I am able to bend the knee only enough so that I don’t limp. I am unable to sit normally in a theater or airplane due to not being able to bend the knee enough. Arthrofibrosis has been a nightmare for me. I would never consider doing another knee replacement.

I would really appreciate the opportunity to speak to you personally. I am so glad these videos came up on list. I watched the one about the three different types of 'fixes' and this video. I had a replacement that was so bad it had to be redone four months later. My second surgeon took the cap out BY HAND! I literally have ALL of these issues with my knee. I was a mountain biker and had to give up riding. I am in constant pain, and it takes about 10-15 minutes for my knee to get warmed back up to walk normally from sitting too long. I am sick of the pain and want my life back.

I have had my right knee replaced twice now. The first surgeon did performed the replacement. Five years later it still hurt, was stiff, sore and swollen all the time. I kept going back to the surgeon. He said nothing was wrong inside the knee capsule. Finally I went to a new surgeon. He immediately ordered a bone scan. Found out the pieces of metal in the knee were loose. In fact so loose when he opened the knee they fell out. He said the bone under the metal pieces were like mashed potatoes. He placed rods in the tibia and femur (knee revision surgery). Replaced all the parts and I have been pain free ever since. In fact it didn’t even hurt as much as the first initial replacement. He is the best surgeon. Since then this place I have gone to. Has placed two metal braces on C4 and C6 in my neck. And again a good job and successful. Then I had another surgeon from the same place took a bone out of my thumb joint that was basically destroyed somehow. They take a ligament from the same arm and roll it up like a cinnamon roll and sew it into the place of the removed bone. They call it an anchovy. Another great surgeon. Olympia Orthopedic has nothing but talented surgeons. I think they actually understand the pain levels patients go through in these complicated situations and are dead set to correct it for the patient. I will never go to any other surgeons except these talented surgeons. They are the best and their support staff is excellent also.

I have already had two right knee surgery's. Still have pain issues after 20 years. Was considering knee replacement, but being 64, I figured it would take at least a full year to get back to 100%. I don't want to not be able to ride my dirt bikes and play golf for a year, so I live within my limitations. I wear a knee support brace while riding my dirt bikes and it helps. That is just until I jam it or twist it the wrong way. I try and play within my limitations. No sitting around rehabbing for me.
