A Michigan man with a suspended driving license has been dubbed online as one of the "world's dumbest criminals" after he joined a Zoom court hearing while driving a car.
Corey Harris attended his May 15 hearing via Zoom while driving, as shown in a video on Judge Cedric Simpson’s YouTube page.
Judge Simpson asked if Harris was driving during the call as Harris claimed he was parking at his doctor's office and would be ready in "one second".
After confirming Harris was "stationary," Harris' attorney, Natalie Pate, requested a two to four week adjournment.
Simpson reviewed the case and questioned, "This is a driving while license suspended?"
Pate confirmed it involved driving without a license.
Simpson noted Harris was driving despite his suspension, saying, "No, I'm looking at his record. He doesn't have a license. He's suspended, and he's just driving."
Pate confirmed this was correct.
Simpson, incredulous, remarked, "I don't even know why he would do that," with Harris still on the Zoom call from his car.
Simpson then revoked Harris' bond and ordered him to turn himself in to Washtenaw County Jail by the evening.
Harris reacted with, "Oh, my God".
