It works randomly, I have mine set to extend, and I set my left monitor which is on the laptop and the 2nd one is connected to a TV by HDMI cable. I would like to click on monitor one and open in the same, click on 2 and work on the same, but it does not.

If I plug in 2nd monitor, then nothing works in first monitor and no icons showing. Mouse doesn't show in 2nd monitor, but icons show.

Is there a way to have everything open up on the monitor that I open it from? In other words if I click on an application on my second monitor it automatically opens up on my second monitor, but if I open up that same application on my first monitor it will open on my first monitor.

For those that Don't care if both monitors are displaying at the same time. Hold the windows key + P and you'll have the display options. If you press PC Only the monitor you want to game on should open the game up. It'll stop displaying on the other monitor. Then you just press windows + P again to revert it back to Extend to have both screens back.

This does not work... there is not a setting forcing an application in one single monitor. The program or browser has to be closed in the monitor it will re-open with... still with that I find that the browser will open in my 3rd monitor (which I do not always have turned on)

Thank you. This problem still occures too often, especially when I open weird budget games that go in window mode, just throwing every other app on second monitor - which is my TV, I only use it in very specific cases, so I decided to let my pc only use monitor one and forget about the second one until I really need it.
Might probably also save energy from the graphics card preparing the image for a monitor that is not even in use.
