Try using less laundry detergent, your clothes, wallet, skin, and schedule will thank you.

Modern detergents are extremely concentrated which means you don’t need much. Keep in mind that companies want their product as small as possible to minimize shipping costs.

Plus, your clothes aren’t usually that dirty, so stop overdoing it on the SAUCE!

Love, a dry cleaner ❤️

I use laundry detergent the same way I use seasonings on food, without measurement and until it feels right

I worked in a laundromat and I agree. So many people put in way too much laundry soap and you can still feel the suds after the cycle ends

This tip has been a game changer! The first time I heard you mention this I’ve been using a tablespoon to measure and it’s amazing that sometimes I feel like it’s still too much depending on the load size. Can’t believe I was overdosing my laundry for years!

I washed one of my wifes sweaters and she said i "ruined it." So i soaked it and stuff and washed it again. I let it run and forgot to get the wash that night. So when i came back the next day, i let it go through a full wash without any soap added just to refresh it.

It soaped up like i had added a full complement of soap. I ran it again, without soap, and it did it again. I washed that sweater like 3 or 4 times, without soap, before the water stoped sudsing up. I couldnt believe it. It was a real wakeup call.

Honestly you convinced me when you poured detergent into test tubes. Very scientific

I had issues with my washing machine and talked to 2 repair men, both said that people use WAY too much detergent. They recommended 1 tbsp or less. They both also recommended using those washing machine tablets to clean your machine every few weeks, but said to find the least expensive brands. Brand of detergent or cleaning tablets don’t make any difference. Since I started following their advice, my wash is much cleaner and no issues with the machine anymore.

I also do the extra rinse option just to make sure all of the soap is gone from the first rinse

I started using 2 tbsp or less & my laundry has never looked or smelled better. Best advice for laundry ever!!!

I agree with him and here is why!

There was a month where I had to wash my clothes by hand bc our washer broke. The first time that I put the amount of detergent that I usually do. But when I began washing my stuff by hand, I had realized it was A LOT because I could feel it. Like idk how else to explain it but you just feel it. So I began putting smaller amounts and my clothes was still getting clean with the smaller amount I was putting.

That seventh generation easy dose bottle is great! Even if you don't want to continue using their detergent, save the bottle and refill with your preference. It holds like 60 loads so you don't have to deal with big jugs or measuring cups

My boyfriend listened to one of the people saying this on a YouTube video and when he went to do the laundry, I basically had to re wash everything because the clothes were just still dirty. Like, I hear you and I’ve seen so many people say this but you saying it doesn’t change the fact that my clothes had to be re washed. And he insisted that the “stains” were just too bad that normal detergent wouldn’t work and I needed to spot treat every stain in all my damn clothes.… boy I just threw it back in the wash with more detergent and everything came out. People, I can clearly see what is getting my clothes clean and what isn’t and the fact is that two tablespoons didn’t clean my clothes.

Haier machines come with a very useful and eye-opening table of recommended detergent amounts, depending on load weight, type of detergent and strength of detergent.

It works 100% of the time and the amounts are less than half what the manufacturers state on their packaging, even Ecover.

A couple years ago I was scrolling through YouTube shorts and I happened to see a washer repair man speaking on this very subject, while taking apart a washer he talked about how much was actually necessary and since then I’ve only used 1-2 TBSP per load, since it’s just me and I buy the large bottle of tide( not the one with the push button dispenser), I go through about 1 1/2 of those in a year and my clothes, sheets, towels etc come out just as clean, in fact better because they don’t feel as though there’s a residue on them.

I remain unconvinced after witnessing detergent being poured into beakers.

Ultra concentrated plus low water usage means the soap doesn't get distributed well. I dilute it with water. Works better

How much detergent to use:
1. How dirty are the clothes (depends on the work you do, got kids, etc)
2. Load size. Small. Medium. Large. X-large.
3. What type of water do you have? City, well, river, etc. Do you have a water softener? Hard water? Water harness is important. Some water bills come with a monthly test or get it tested or look for build up on faucets/drains/showers.

Heavily soiled clothes need more detergent or the dirt gets back on clothes while in the wash. Larger loads = more dirt. More dirt = you need more detergent. Hard water = more detergent.

Putting too many clothes in with incorrect load size (water level) and not enough detergent = stank.

Putting too little clothes but a high water level with a lot of detergent = overdosing = waste of money. Can also cause a build up of detergent on clothes which can lead to contact dermatitis. Can cause build up in washer that doesn’t get rinsed upon rinse cycle which can lead to mold which can lead to health issues. Suds make you think clean but can negatively affect lifetime of washer.

I used to go to a laundromat that had signs everywhere informing people to only use half of the recommended amount, at most. Ever since then, I’ve really cut down, and my clothes feel better.
