This video makes me feel pretty good about myself. I had a sudden onslaught of intrusive thoughts last week, after a while of being relatively symptom-free. I responded by saying "okay, that's nice, moving on, " and this week the thoughts have faded substantially.

Thank you for being one of the main people who taught me how to do that back when my OCD was severe.

I have contamination ocd, and I’ve been advised by my therapist to sit with the anxiety and delay responding to it, and
eventually not respond to it at all. You’ll suffer through it (that clinging fear and tension in your body and mind…like an addicted person would want to heal) but every time you do it, it gets easier and the intrusive thought becomes less important and real and more funny 😂…I want to become the person who didn’t have ocd at all. Come on we can do it! 💪🏻

My husband has ADHD, depression and was on medication for many years. When we moved and he had to get a new Doctor. Unfortunately because my husband was nearly 68, the Doctor said ADHD medication was not recommended for someone his age and he wouldn't renew his prescription. The Dr didn't even offer to wean him off the meds! He left him with no meds and had him go. God so kind a friend recommended us to mushrooms (psilocybin) precisely. After his experience with shrooms five years ago till now there's no more ADHD, depression and mental disorder. Shrooms are life changing. There is no way you can put into words what it feels like..

I haven't done ERP (yet), but I've done DBT.

One of the best things I learned there that's helping with OCD is extending the pause between feeling (anxiety) and reaction (compulsion).

It's hard, definitely, but I try to remember to live in those pauses more because that's when I have the power to decide what I'm going to do/how I'm going to react.

The problem is when thoughts have the chance to sneak in and create anxiety instantly 😮‍💨

The way you know the content/theme "obsession" is false is that it can change theme, and the previous theme doesn't bug you anymore because it's now transferred it's focus onto something new... So attacking the content with compulsions doesn't really solve the underlying problem which is OCD. Also it's not the thoughts themselves that are the problem it's the way you feel about them... If you didn't care then ocd wouldn't exist... That's why ocd targets what you deem most important by attacking it with what you deem to be the worst case scenario

I really like "eh." It's something my aunt says all the time, and it drives my mother crazy. But it's brilliant! I'm getting better at it.

Thoughts are not the problem. What we react is a big problem. Moral ❤

Just want to let you know your videos have crushed my health anxiety. Thanks so much! The medical community doesn't see health anxiety (and related disorders, there are like 5 types of health anxiety, basically, as you know) as OCD, but the OCD treatment has been working for me. ❤

Thank you so much Nathan ❤. You have helped me so much with my ocd journey and you are still helping me. I have had ocd since my childhood but didn't knew about it, I was struggling. From about 10 months I knew I had ocd but I didn't told my parents cause I was scared. But now I recently told them about it and they took me to the doctor . And one week ago, I officially got diagnosed with ocd, my father is really supportive about it. Thanks to your channel I know that there are more people like me who are struggling too and healing, so I don't feel alone .

This is literally the most simple answer! That’s all you have to do is don’t react emotionally to the thoughts. Don’t avoid anything out of fear. Feel your emotions daily and observe thoughts without judgement. ❤

You’re the best 😭 I’ve been having the worst few days because of OCD it’s been really bad when I had been more above it before but stressful situations have made me weak but this is helping me get ahold of myself 😭

sadieappelfeller

You advice us to focus upon real things but, the sad part is ocd clings to the things which are real to us (important in life)
