I have a theory: Everyone was under the influence as it mentioned that they're necks were oddly tilted which was just like the monsters. And they had the glistening eyes which may also be signs of being under the control as Rebecca felt the urge to open the door when she saw the glistening eyes. So I think Rebecca was the only one NOT under the control.

Daniel acts like there's some kind of restriction on just saying the word "police", like any fool any where can't say the word at will. It was pure luck that it ended up being better for them to run.
