It's amazing how the main antagonist's core ideas resemble Luffy's but with a dark twist. Makes Luffy unable to oppose to some things Blackbeard says cause he agrees with him but also feels like there's a gap between them.

Blackbeard is one of the top 5 best written characters in one piece . Despite his goofy looks he has insane amount of knowledge and intelligence . He literally used the world government to kill whitebeard, the strongest man even pirate king couldn't kill .

When I think about it, Blackbeard doesn't really have a bone to pick against Luffy. He captured Ace because of his own plans and at the end of the day, it's just business to him. He has no hatred to other characters, it's just that he will do anything to achieve his dream, no matter who they are. Even against Whitebeard, he did it because he wanted his devil fruit power. Not because of malice or who's right or wrong. He was willing to sacrifice everything to get it. He really is a real depiction of a pirate. But I also love his reckless attitude, just like how Luffy is.

Blackbeard is really an interesting bad guy. He seems to care about his crew, yet we know he’s willing to kill crewmates for what he wants. We know he’s a dreamer like luffy but instead of going all in and rushing to the end the guy plans for decades. He’s a goof but has an aura of menace.

Luffy and Blackbeard are basically two sides of the same coin. While Luffy spreads joy helps the people he comes across, Blackbeard literally spready darkness and acts like a "real" pirate would, yet both chase their dreams to the same extend.

I love the fact that the main antagonist of One Piece is the world's most famous pirate Blackbeard.

He is the inspiration for most pirates in most stories...so it's cool to see Oda do that.
