Thursday Boot Captains Resole | Making These Boots Look New

This pair of Thursday Boot Captains were mailed to our shop for a resole. After removing the old Thursday Boot rubber soles and heel pads, we changed them out with Dainite soles and top lifts. We also used some Saphir conditioner and cream to hydrate the leather and make them look new again. These boots look so much better, and they're now on their way back to the owner. Time for another restoration!

“Why were the insoles not replaced?”. We’ve received this question quite a number of times below, so I’ll save you the time and answer it. For one, this video is titled “...Resole”...meaning it’s exactly that. A resole. Also, these are $200 boots brand new. We’ve put out other videos showing us replacing insoles, and it’s a tedious and expensive job. The crack in the insole will not make a difference in the way this boot feels or functions. We replaced the liners, which we did not show, so the owner won’t feel anything going forward. Again, we do what the customers pay for. Sometimes we add a bit to shoes/boots in our videos for entertainment and to be generous. Replacing the insoles on this pair would not have been worth it financially. 👍

Ahh. Coffee. Donuts. And a Trenton and Heath resole video. Great way to start a Saturday

There's something satisfying about watching life being put back into something that many individuals who didn't know better would discard rather than have repaired/restored. My great great great grandfather was a shoemaker in 1841 in Wales, UK so I find your work fascinating.

I started to pay more attention to my shoes because of this channel and the information you guys provide. This is very educational. Thank you for the videos, guys! Love from Brazil!

Woke up and the first thing that pops on youtube are my unconditioned (sorry) boots! Awesome! Thank you so much guys. Even my wife watched the whole video with me and son about to rewatch. Keep up the great work and will be sending some more!

Well, just got mine and overall, they seem to be a good quality ( not amazing quality) boot.
I am happy with mine . I’m 70 years old and they’ll out last me probably. You are, by far, the best cobbler I have ever seen. This isn’t your first Rodeo, you are a hand . Cheers from your newest subscriber from California !

I was thinking: "YES!!" right up until the paper foot bed. Ugh. Amazing, what a little leather conditioner will do for a pair of hoof-covers. Nice repair.

Y'all should do a compilation of ironing the cork.

There are not too many things that bring me small joys, but cleaning, brushing and polishing my boots is one of them. I love the "Polish" stage before T and H video's are done.

I don't know why but watching that hot cork getting applied is like the most relaxing, soothing thing ever. :)

Every time I watch one of these my favorite part is the hot cork I swear I could watch that all day!

A machine can never replace the true craftsmanship, time, patience and experience of a true craftsman like this. Outstanding Job!!!

The last shoe shop for a hundred miles went out of business ten years ago.
My father was in the same outfit in WWII with the local shoe and bike shop owner in town.
Spent a lot of time in there as a kid.
I could almost smell it watching this great video !
Thanks for sharing.

Those Thursday's look outstanding. The red stitching on the outsole has real pop.

A true craftsman. No matter what it is you do when you do it at this level it's cool to watch.

Missed seeing videos from you, great video for a cloudy day in Chicago. Thank you! I just had a conversation with my local cobbler - took your advice and got Vibram sole savers for my shoes - he said that when he started in our area 20+ years ago there were 6 cobblers, now...he is the only man standing! I asked if he was going to get an apprentice. I sure hope he does. Your channel has made me come to appreciate the craftsmanship that goes behind repairing a shoe, and I thank you and your brother, for the life lesson. Blessings, to you both, and I do hope to see another video soon. Be safe, stay healthy.

You should include a before photo in the end of the video when you're showing off the finished product!
