My biggest tip for studying with ADHD, is if you're studying via video, crank that speed up to 2.0 or 1.5/1.75 if they're fast speakers. I'm not sure why, but when the information is coming at me faster it's like my brain hyper fixates on it and I not only focus more but absorb the information WAY better. I basically just zone out during lectures, and then replay it on 2x afterward and everything actually clicks.

I have adhd and here’s what I do,

Since I definitely cannot focus in my own home I always do all of my schoolwork, studying, and notes in the school library before, in between, and after classes.

I’ve also found that physically recording important information helps me remember it better, I don’t do well with lectures so I usually just focus on taking notes from the textbook when the teacher is lecturing.

If the teacher isn’t lecturing and there’s work to be done during class then I definitely try to follow along with the class and complete it, if I save it for later it won’t get done.

Multitasking is a lie, it is the enemy. If you have ADHD don’t lie to yourself we can’t multitask.

My problem is I stare at my college work and distract myself with my phone because I don’t want to think about mentally straining, leading to sitting in front of the computer for days and not working (I’m self employed). Then I finish it last minute. And the cycle continues. I manage to get it done, and make very good grades, but I’m financially struggling now. I procrastinate so hard because I don’t wanna commit to the mental energy of doing school work. Then pay for it dearly later on. Even when I say “I’ll finish on this day” it doesn’t happen. 😢

Changing how I use a schedule and how I think about time really saved my studies.
I work with a week schedule with only 1 true deadline day, Sunday evening. That way I always have to have done something by Sunday and never end up in a situation where I've nothing started for a deadline (I don't have classes on Monday, which helps to maintain this 'mindset').
I also really learned to embrace being flexible. If I can't study at 9 AM, then I won't force it. But from the moment I DO sit behind my desk, I don't get up. Let that hyper fixation help me for once instead of distracting me all the time. No matter if it's 9 PM or 3 AM, that's the time my brain has activated today, so I'm working with it. Not having any clocks around helps with this. If distractions happen a lot, then a timer or alarm is really handy. I have one for 2PM, 7pm and 11pm

I’ve found the song ‘weightless’ by Marconi union really helpful when trying to focus.
It’s designed to regulate your heartbeats and occasionally has little ‘ping’ noises that somehow snap me out of daydreaming.

I always take notes and write to do lists. I like to work on a planner that shows the entire week, so I can organize better my tasks. I break the tasks into small pieces so I can get up and have a cup of coffee when I accomplish something. I try to get myself motivated before I start so I can focus more time. I follow many of the tips you share in your channel. They really benefit ADHD people like me. Thank you so much!

Hello Ana - I just got all my final grades back for my first summer term in college (at my school summer term classes are accelerated, spanning only 4, 6 or 8 weeks instead of 11), and for the first time in college, I got all A+'s!!! This was largely because of the studying strategies I have learned from watching your videos, and in particular your videos about studying with ADHD and also strategies for being an A+ student. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I now feel like anything is possible and that my ADHD will not be something that prevents me from succeeding in school. Thank you so much for everything you do on this channel!!

I've ADHD since when I was a kid (I'm 26) and I even tried to focus against my mind, writing down as much as possible (Studying formation now) to not forget... And I forget what I did just read or saw.

Yes I liked the video but wanted to add that alarm setting is great but for me I have to set mine every 12 minutes. That's how easily I loose focus. It works though. Not many people with adhd can study for 45 minutes. I most certainly can not.

I have ADHD and moderate OCD, I know it takes time for me to remember things I study, so i plan in advance. Fortunately I can also be hyperfocus so sometimes I go on for 8 h and more, other i cannot focus for a 1 minute. I have the tendecy to be a perfectionist I goals. Honestly it works and Im better at Uni better than most of Neuorotipical, I study very hard, sometimes when I study I have phisical pain but I keep up going, I never procrastine.
ADHD here I'm, I bet you!!😂😂

My fellow ADHD friends a tip I found out is putting timers of an hour in that hour I study as much as I can then I put on a different timer of like 20 or 15 minutes in that time I take a break and I keep repeating that

the thing is no matter how hard or well I study, I always do bad on my exams regardless of how much i know about the subject. Its so annoying cause its a waste of effort and time just to get a mark lower than 50
