Defeating Adventism #5 – The Commands of Jesus and the 10 Commandments

This is the fifth video in the series of Defeating Adventism. This video follows the first four which exposed the false Gospel of the Adventist church and compares its message to the Bible and the true Gospel. This video defeats a common Adventist and Sabbatarian argument that John 14:15 is Jesus advocating the 10 Commandments. Using John 14:15 as Bible proof that Jesus advocates the 10 Commandments is a mis-application of the Word of God., which Adventists do routinely.

John 14:15 "If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
This verse does not say “Keep the Commandments” as in 10 Commandments because God nowhere gave 10 Commandments, which in Hebrew would be “eser miṣvâ”, but God did given 10 Words, which is in the Hebrew “eser dāḇār.” It is impossible for Jesus to supposedly encourage keeping the 10 Commandments because biblically there is no such thing as “10 Commandments.”

Jesus did say to “Keep His Commandments.” The Greek word for Commandments in this verse is “entole” which is NOT the Greek word for the 10 Commandment or Law which is “Nomos.” Jesus is not saying to keep the NOMOS, but to keep His ENTOLE. Jesus said to keep all that He commanded.
Jesus has many, many commandments recorded in Scripture. One example is Matthew 5:21-22 where Jesus says:

"You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment. But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, 'You fool!' will be liable to the hell of fire.”

Jesus takes one of the 10 commandments and adds to it by saying that if you get so angry as to have thoughts of murder, then you are liable to hell fire. The 10 commandments on murder does not include thoughts of murder, but now Jesus adds anger leading to thoughts of murder even though the act of murder did not occur.
Jesus has commands which are not found in the 10 commandments such as Matthew 5:22-23. I agree, keep Jesus commandments.

JESUS CHRIST TEACHES TRUE BELIEVERS TO OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS, FOR HIS PERFECT AND SINLESS RIGHTEOUSNESS ALONE ENABLES US TO DO SO, THOUGH NOT OF WORKS LEST ANYONE SHOULD BOAST:

John 13:34-35 NIV:

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

With malice toward none and charity toward all

The commands of Jesus exceeds the ten 10 commandments. We need to focus on following Jesus and not focus on the ten Commandments.

Can you follow Jesus and break the 10 commandments? Let's see...
1. Is it okay with Jesus to have other gods? No
2. Is it okay with Jesus if we bow to idols? No
3. Is it okay with Jesus if we take His name in vain? No
5. Is it okay with Jesus to dishonour our parents? No
6. Is it okay with Jesus to kill? No
7. Is it okay with Jesus to commit adultery? No
8. Is it okay with Jesus to steal? No
9. Is it okay with Jesus to lie? No
10. Is it okay with Jesus to covet? No.

Wow. That leaves number 4. Is it okay with Jesus to forget the commandment that says "remember"?

Since I have remembered to observe the Sabbath day, my life has been greatly blessed. We receive more to God's blessings when we keep the Lord's day (Mark 2:28....the day Jesus is Lord of).

This video is correct in saying Jesus' commands exceed the 10 Commandments. It doesn't overrule or negate them.

A good part of this controversy boils down to realizing that gentiles are not Jews and they don't replace or take the place of Jews.

Are the Commandments not Commands from God?

Dear friends.. After reading thru some comments regarding the commandments of Jesus whether it is the same as the 10 commandments or not... Let's get something right from the start.. And please to all who are still confused about the commandments and who implemented it in the first place.. It is the very same Jesus who was crucified on the cross because of the sin of humanity.. Which is breaking of the command of God.. Is the very same Jesus who gave the 10 commandments on top of Mount Sinai... We should first be clear on that.. One question to all who are against obeying God's command.. Do we really think that Jesus will contradict his own word or law or command or commandments??

Adventist: "If you love me keep my commandments". Christian: "so you don't wear clothing with mixed fibres"?
Adventist: "that's the ceremonial law which was nailed to the cross".
Christian: "So you have sex with goats? Leviticus 18:23". Adventist:

Maybe the New Testament's translators should translate the phrase ''If you love me keep my commands'' for
''If you love me keep my orders''.

As you pointed out the word "Commandments" in John 14:15 is the Greek word "Entolas". Mark 10:19 and Luke 18:20 also use the word "Entolas" for Commandments when Jesus recites 5 of the 10 Commandments. From those 2 other verses alone it can be concluded that John 14:15 is talking about the 10 Commandments.

Another word for modify is Fulfill....
All of what Jesus did was to simplify the ten commandments....all Jesus comand is simply the ten commandments

Excellent video from another ex-Adventist in Jamaica, Kismarr Givans:

Exposing the hypocrisy of SDAs regarding their view of the Sabbath being a moral commandment (like they always say, that the 10 commandments is God's eternal moral law that could never be changed, I'm sure you guys used to hear that ad nauseum in sermons during your time in Adventism).

If the nature of the Sabbath commandment is moral, why are these hypocrites in Adventism all staying at home on their Saturday Sabbath during this COVID-19 pandemic? If they believe the commandment is just as much of a moral nature as the situation was when Daniel's three friends refused to bow down to the golden statue in Babylon and were prepared to be thrown into the fiery furnace for their convictions, shouldn't these Adventists still continue going to congregate in church buildings and risk the large fines and jail sentences that are currently in place? Adventists know how to talk a tough game, but they've never played one in their life.

Adventists love to mention Acts 5:29 "We ought to obey God rather than men", but in this COVID-19 situation, they have decided to follow men by obeying the government. This decision of theirs also puts a fatal blow into their "Sunday Law persecution" theory that was first proposed by Joseph Bates in the early Adventist movement (before Ellen picked it up and kept running with it). How are SDAs going to stand up for God now if they've already decided to submit to the government? One thing is for sure: these hypocrites sure ain't the last days' Elijah or John the Baptist.

According to the late Dudley Canright, this is NOT the first time SDAs have talked a tough game, but have meekly surrendered to government authorities when it came to the clutch moment:

"If you love Me, keep My commandments." John 14:15

"And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do things that are pleasing in His sight. And THIS IS HIS COMMANDMENT: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment."
1 John 3:22-23

Straight from Apostle John who penned the Gospel according to John.
Connected? 🤔

In case you aren't aware the 10 commandments are his covenant with his people. I see others try to explain this. Deuteronomy 4:13 says exactly that. His covenant the ten commandments that he wrote up on 2 tables of stone. When the new covenant was made, it's the same commandments only Instead of being written on stone, they're written on our heart. Psalms 40:8 says what that means. "I delight to do thy will, thy law is written within my heart". And yes if we love him we will keep his commandments. That's who they're for. Those who are saved and will obey him out of love. His people..

Matthew 19:17
" if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments"
Matthew 10:40
He that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
John 5:30
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me."
" I do not mind own will, but the will of the one who sent me."
" The words i speak are not my own, be are the words of the one who sent me."
" Who is my brethren? Those who do the will of my father who is in heaven".
"He that sent me is greater than I"

Isaiah 61: "The ruach of YHWH is upon me... He has sent me" (Luke 4:18)

Messiah clarified Abba's Torah, as it was meant to be from the beginning (Matthew 5). He didn't think to change times and laws, but correct the error/traditions of men.
"To beware of the scribes", is not a concept...
" Who are we to say that the word of YHWH is with us when the lying pen of the scribes has corrupted it" Jeremiah 7:22 😉

Ellen White broke many commandments, statutes, judgements and decrees.
Most of the her visions and evangelism is based primarily from the words of the anti-messiah, and familiar spirits too. Which shouldn't come as a shock.. "Take heed lest anyone deceive you: For many shall come in my name".

I do appreciate the effort you put forth to expose E.W., and the religious extension of the failed millerite doctrines.
I have shared a couple of your videos. The one with her having a visitation from her dead husband, and taking his advice, really cracked me up🤣👍 is never heard that "vision/dream" before.
Thank you :-)

Btw, the father is not the son😉
"I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me." John 6:38

Hebrews 8:13
We have a new covenant and he has made the first old. (The law is obsolete). Jesus was our sacrificial lamb, he has washed us and made us clean.
