How to Close Apps on iPad 10th Gen (Or Any iPad)

How to close out of apps on iPad (10th Generation 2022). Also works for Apple iPad Pro, Air or Mini. iPad used with button is 9th Generation 2021. This includes closing apps running in the background, returning to previous apps, and exiting the screen. iPadOS 16.

Doesn’t work when you rotate the iPad Pro in any direction??? For me I can swipe up only in two directions, although I can unlock it by swiping up in any direction!

iPad is broken and won't let me swipe up. And I can't afford to repair it. I can't close any of these apps so my iPad is very glitchy
