How To Close All Open Apps On iPhone 11

Learn how to close all open apps on the Apple iPhone 11 and 10 in this short tutorial video. I also show you how to close all open apps on older iPhones like the 8, 7, or 6 that have a dedicated home button.

The iPhone keeps apps open in the background to improve performance with multitasking between apps.

To close all open apps on the iPhone 11 or 10, simply swipe up from the button of the screen and pause halfway. You'll then see all the apps that are currently open. Swipe an app up to close an individual app. Alternatively, swipe multiple apps to close several apps at once.

On the iPhone 8, 7, 6, or prior, double tap the home button. You'll then see all apps that are currently open. Similar to with the iPhone 11 or 10, swipe an app up to close an individual app or swipe multiple apps to close several apps at once.

In this video, I use an iPhone 11 Pro Max to demonstrate how to close one or multiple apps.

I really hope apple can improve on this feature like the “close all” in android. Definitely a disappointing factor for me as I switched from Samsung to iPhone 😔

“How to close all apps on iphone”

Video should’ve been 2 seconds long: “you can’t.”

How have they still not fixed this? It’s so freakin janky.

Great tutorial. Loud enough audio. Slow enough without rushing through the instructions, ( for those of us who are tech-challenged 😉 ) and a great teacher style. Thanks !

Dear Kevin, Thank you so much for your video. It was a great help to two senior citizens struggling with an iPhone. Liz and Anni

I am a phone-challenged person. Kevin's videos have really helped me navigate through issues I've been having. Good audio, clear speaking, great view of exactly what he's doing.

So it’s depends on how many fingers we have ... some people may have 30 fingers

Thanks, very helpful. I have an iPhone 7 which I get fine, but I am still getting used to not having a home button on my iPhone 11

I really want to find an application or some method of closing all apps at one time, using 3-4 fingers to swipe up really isn’t closing them all once and immediately...if you know of a app on the iOS App Store PLEASE SOMEONE let me know!?!

Honestly, it’s still faster to hold your phone with 2 hands and just rapid fire swipe up alternating with left and right thumbs. There is no delay in the animation so you are only limited by how fast your thumbs can alternate

Appalling how something that simple on Android is missing on iOS

Useful workaround, but it would be great to have a button that closes everything.

"just swipe up from the bottom"
seems simple enough
*opens phone screen settings by swiping upwards, app tabs never opening*

That was good to know - and do you also know how I clear cache on an iPhone 11?
