I have a manual glow plug switch on my IDI, never had the need to use any ether

Sweet! I've got a 90' with a 7.3 NA and 5spd manual with 103k miles. My glow plugs actually work though.

On my teens a had a stretch of time in between cars and had to borrow my dad’s ford. And start it like shown in the video In the middle of a bad winter.

Atta boy, soak that puppy in ether, diesels love that. Starting up our old allis in the winter, with block heater, inside, we launched half a can at a time into the air cleaner. If ether was really bad for diesels we wouldn't have ran that tractor year round without a problem for 25 years.

I'm not trying to be a Karen I was just cold starting a Ford big block at work it's in an old truck and that amount of starter fluid would have flooded it out I literally squirted it three times like half second squirts while it was running just to see and it killed it maybe a Diesel's different
