The Major pentatonic scale doesn't get as much press or love as the minor pentatonic scale does, but played thoughtfully it can improve your soloing right away.

The Major pentatonic scale is pretty great. And pretty-sounding too. In this video we dive deep into why it sounds the way it does and when to use it.

Yep that's where it happened for me. Finally realised that not all songs had minor pent. in them. In fact, most of the licks were major or modal.

Great insight. Minor "aggressive". Major "beautiful". Thanks, Chris.

The channel's flowin' and growin'. I'm happy for you.

Ending a minor jam on a major 3rd is also a nice sound that we've all heard before.

Great video, I discovered awhile back that I could....tastefully....throw a relative major/major pent run in my lead solos and it opened up my playing soooo much. This is the first video I have actually seen anybody talk about it like this. This will really level you guys up that are not doing this yet.

You have given me the kick in the tail that I truly needed. You've told me to grab a pencil, leave the tabs alone, and do the work. With all sincerity, thank you for your instruction, your efforts, and your highly developed use of language. It's been a (Major) help. Boom, dad joke.
Again I do appreciate your videos.

Beautiful lesson Chris! I think this might be a big hole in my ability to play over dominant 7th chords

Great lesson as always, Chris. Thanks! Fun fact, Andy Timmons came by our humble little guitar shop here in Central Indiana a week ago. What a great guy! Talented and nice to boot!

Wow Chris really loved what you wrote at the start. I recoginize those double stop slides; to be honest I didnt have a clue how to find them. An it reminds me of so many great players an alot of songs theowing on a backing track now to see what I come up with. One quesrion are there specific chord intervals that you target to get that real laid back chill sound. I have been looking for it but always in minor penta. So you just opened my eyes, ears an mind to what I will refer to as Duane Allman sound. Thanks dor the great lesson caught so much out of this !

Listen to "Goodbye Carolina" by Marcus King. In it, he moves one of his breaks into the major scale and it literally makes the song. Thanks for this video.

Well done, Chris. Great presentation and explanation. Clear, concise and easy to understand because you demonstrate what you're talking about in real time. It's like you're answering a question someone would have IF you were talking in person. It's a superior teaching technique. And no matter the topic, I always pick up a golden kernel of something. Well done. Thanks.

I'm so excited and I haven't even started the video yet. You were at the top of my recommended feed and I was already gonna head to your channel anyway.

Tier one youtube channel

P.s. you ever think about having marty on with you? That time you went on his channel was how I found you, thanks

When you were talking about the character of the minor pentatonic, you kept bending that minor third towards the major third. That little microtonal bend is a blues fundamental. It would seem more fair to say you were comparing the major pentatonic and blues scale.

Keep the awesome videos coming. We all appreciate the hard work!

Love that guitar. I think a Suhr is my grail guitar after watching so much of Pete Thorn's channel.
