for people who are wondering, im pretty sure this song was a message to fans at the time that didnt like the darker side of mac, say some of the stuff on macadellic, and presumablely were constantly questioning the style change. the whole "theres a bird, in sky, look at it fly, why?" this bar essentially means, "look theres mac miller, making sad songs, why?" and i always thought that message was super cleverly put into this song.

I think the message of this song is that there are incredibly beautiful aspects of the world around us that many people overlook or don't care about. Through drug experimentation Mac is now seeing the beauty in nature and life itself and is trying to convey his enlightenment to other people but they don't understand because they can't see what he sees, so they all say "why?" Anyone else agree?
