The RTX 5080 and 5090 are officially available now.... or no? They are sold out everywhere, immediately. Like at an unreasonable rate. However, after digging into this, it seems Nvidia is doing this more intentionally than you may think. They do surprisingly benefit a lot from having limited supply, so let's dig in.

Here's links to the RTX 5090 and 5080 if wanna get them for some reason:

___ RTX 5090 ___

___ RTX 5080 ___

___ RTX 4080/Super ___

Nvidia doesn’t want to sell them, and I don’t want to buy them. It works out in the end.

If you buy from a scalper. You are the problem.

It's called price control. We know for a fact that store owners were told by Nvidia reps that there will be a "very limited stock." They loved what the pandemic did for the 30 series sales. They weren't happy with 40 series sales. Welcome to Nvidia in 2025. Pure corporate greed.

I can understand the 5090 being scalped as scummy as it is, but who the fuck would scalp a 5080? And who the fuck would buy it at a scalped price?

I'm kinda just waiting to see how AMD manages to disappoint us, when nvidia keeps setting the bar lower with every generation.

Nvidia is making the classic corporation mistake of burning customer goodwill for fast profits. People do NOT like being put in a position where they feel like they're at the mercy of another person and while people might take this from Nvidia today, it will leave a negative imprint on them which will be the motivation to switch in the future from Nvidia products.

I'm still surprised Nvidia gave you a review unit. You've been grilling them hard and it's absolutely deserved.

High demand, "Low Stock" They learned this with the 3000 series, except that the 3000 series was a real generational leap forward where the 5 series isn't

These aren't "sold out". They're just "out". There were maybe 500 total 5090s available for the NA market. They were functionally never even in stock in the first place.

nvidia this gen : barely an uplift, makes the partners suffer, artificially limits the supply, makes the gpu value worse, loses lots of stock.

Both the 5090 and 5080 out of stock here in Australia as well. They sent all the stock to Hardware unboxed and that math's teacher 😂.

The stock price dropped for nVidia, but their graphics cards sold out.

What kind of sense does that even make.

People are actually paying $5k and more for these from scalpers. I don't care what people do with their money but it makes me wonder how people this stupid are able to afford paying that.

7900xtx is 200$ cheaper in most countriest than 5080 and its onlt 5% worse. " amd isnt competing with 5080" bro you literally showed benchmarks where 7900xtx has 6 less frames than 5080. 6 less frames is NOTHING for the price of 7900 xtx and SUPPLY availability

Nvidia about to make a history this generation, with the 5070 being slower than the 4070 super.

Disappointed in gamers Nexus take that it’s because of tariffs, which gives them the out that they need.

If they’re afraid of tariffs that haven’t yet happened, wouldn’t they be hitting the market even harder right now? To try and get as much as they could?

It’s the opposite. They have no competition, they know it, so they’re doing scummy business practices that are anti-consumer.

You can’t buy a 5090 right now, but all of your favorite content creators have six, and you can go out and spend essentially $4000 on computer components that are only worth less than 1000, being your only way to get a 5090 right now. Pre-order it into March for only 6500!!! Wtf

It’s so stupid and convoluted and it’s intentionally done. They haven’t just suddenly stopped producing the 4000 series either. Those things haven’t been made for seemingly a long time and that’s why their prices were artificially inflating as well instead of deflating.

Im from Singapore and when i went to the local retailers to check them out there was a family of 4 in one of the shops buying up 5 5080s(2.2k SGD each), and when i was overhearing their conversation it was quite obvious they didnt know much about pcs, they just had a lot of money, which pretty much sums up the people actually buying these gpus
