Baby Seal Rescued from 5m Plastic Strap

The bright green colour of this 5m long piece of plastic packaging strap made it easy to identify this entangled baby seal - he was stuck in a loop of the strap, and he dragged the rest of it behind. This kind of strap is designed to keep hundreds of kg together, there is no mercy for a little seal pup like this. It would have continued to hurt him, until he can no longer eat or breathe.
As always - we do not know the origin of this entanglement, but we do know that it does not belong into the ocean. 🦭

It’s December 29th here in Canada and I’m coming to the end of another year watching you rescue seals. It’s happy and sad. I’m glad for the seals but angry at people polluting the oceans with garbage. ❤️❤️
