Seal Releases - Christmas Compilation

The release part of a seal rescue is everybody's favorite - it is the feel good moment when everything comes right for the animal. In our videos, once the animal is rescued and released, we try and keep the focus on the plastic entanglement by zooming back onto the piece of fishing line, rope, fishing net, hook, plastic bag, plastic packaging strap, clothing garment or Ziploc bag because we do not want the feel good part to become more important than the underlying plastic issue.
While Naude was down in isolation with a very mild case of Covid, he used his time to put together an edit of some of his favorite releases over the past year. It is our thank you to everybody for watching and sharing the videos, for creating awareness for plastic pollution and ocean rubbish, and for your incredible support for the past year. THANK YOU!

A special thank you goes to Lynn for suggesting this :-) 🦭

This proves, once again, that Antoine is the original “seal whisperer”!!!

“What a good puppy you are, Tony!”

That happy flappy, slappy sound of flippers pounding on the sand and into the water. How cute are seals "running" back to the safety of the ocean? Thanks for all your rescues. Loving hugs to you all. Merry Christmas and here is to a new year full of more rescues. From Nebraska, USA.

I love these most when after some distance the seal seems to realize he/she is not being chased, and looks back. Also the "growls of relief" when running away are amongst my favorite sounds.

My favorite part of the videos is when the line is cut and the seal can breathe again, so it immediately calms down. Thank you for your work and for the videos of your wonderful rescues.

What a year you had! Some favorites: seal buddies to the rescue, the flippers on the "cutest seal ever", the live premiere Q&A video at CC, the angry seal (Tony: "Well let's move then..." Naude: "...before he attacks and kills us all..."), Tony falling over when the seal surprised him... and on and on. Let's not forget the humpback whale and the Mola mola rescues. You guys are awesome! Merry Christmas!!🦭😇❤❤❤❤❤❤

It's wonderful that, every now and then, you get one that seems to know that they have been helped.

What a wonderful Christmas present 🎁 to us. Thank you OCN for all that you do- both all the things that we see and the many things that you do behind the scenes 🎄🦭🎄

What a fantastic year for you OCN. You have become more and more experienced and the teamwork has been more and more solid. Im glad about the return of Tony and the inclusion of wally. Favorite moment is probably the impressive work with the beached sunfish. That creature was huge. 2022 will be great with OCN on the beaches.

I have so enjoyed watching the videos every day and seeing the evolution of your rescue techniques. Also how you all melded into an even tighter rescue team, almost reading each other's minds, with no talking necessary. Amazing!🦭👍👏😊❤

The whale rescue will always be very special. It was made possible by your ongoing growth of physical fitness, technical skills and teamwork. Your accomplishments are the fruit of your health and professional determination. This not an amateur sport. Proud of you all, Team OCN!

Yes, of course, I/we love that moment of release --- thank you so much for showing these --- but my favorite moments are when the CONSTRICTING LINES of the entrapped seal are CUT, the excruciating pressure is released, and, again, it is able to take that DEEP FULFILLING PRECIOUS BREATH of the salty sea air! May GOD BLESS YOU guys and gals; surely, you are all doing his work ... and may you all have a Blessed CHRISTMAS and a very healthy and happy New Year!

That little pup who sniffed one fist then the other and followed you around made me giggle a bit! 1:50
The team [and pups] did a stella job this year.
Merry Christmas to you all and a Happy New year!

Release is my favorite part. I love it when they seem to have an awareness that you are trying to help them. The pause and looking at all of you sure feels like a big thank you. My sincere gratitude goes out to all of you guys. May God bless

My favorite parts are that you are actually helping them first, then the relief that they feel. I would imagine the most rewarding is when they stick around to thank you, non-aggressive of course. I just wish there were more people out there that help they way you do but most of all that there was no need. Merry Christmas to you and your families.
