i got an anbernic sp last year because of your video and honestly ive been so happy for it. ive yet to see something in the same price range and quality thats made me say, damn, i wish i got that instead. if anything ive come to love it more as time has gone by and its gotten better updates, ive customized my shell more, ect. its a really great little thing

A clamshell SP-like really is the best beater device possible. In high school I took it on so many bus rides, passing it around to play Advance Wars against my friends, and then just tossing it in the backpack when I was done. It's too bad that the Flip has so many of those minor problems that that prevent it from being a slam dunk, because the size and shape are just about perfect. Maybe the Miyoo Flip Plus will us the SP clone we deserve.

black frame insertion is for reducing motion blur (every LCD has it, just how they're made) and to help make all motion more perceivable (makes moving text more readable as an example). likely feels like a CRT as there's much less frame retention. it's super common in gaming monitors.

Miyoo stock firmware has always been awful. Gotta wait for Onion OS or something to be added before I feel like a real review of the flip is available.

11:45 Sonic Rush is actually pretty good for those games, you have to go into the Drastic settings and turn on the automatic "main screen" swapping or whatever that option it's called for Sonic Rush and it automatically follows Sonic and you don't have to switch the Screens yourself. It works pretty good and I played through Sonic Rush like that on my rg35xxsp👍

Heads up the reason MinUI performs much better is it uses standalone (flatpack) emulators instead of RetroArch, which I discovered while making my video for the Miyoo A30. Retroarch can be side-loaded on top of MinUI (for N64 and Dreamcast and others) but will have similar performance issues to the stock setup since MinUI exists on top of the stock firmware

My vote goes to the RG35XXSP, it feels more solid than the Flip and a clamshell is so handy if you want to have it in your pocket

i really suggest the anbernic RG40XXH, it is overlooked by so many handheld reviewers. it is comfortable to hold, has a big display and has dual thumbsticks that are comfortable. the "overheating" issues are blown way out of proportion

I’d argue that you could put a circle pad where you suggested, Bob, but color match it to the body. The pad wouldn’t stand out, and I think the unit would be 10x more playable.

I know it was already mentioned, but if you want thumbsticks, the TrimUI Smart Pro has them, and with the latest version of CrossMix it's probably one of, if not "the" best sub $90 handhelds available. Plus the screen is great for GBA and PSP. It's also just large enough to make DS games playable without jumping to a much larger or more expensive handheld.
