REVO K101 Plus Review - GBA Console Clone device & Emulation review - Should you buy it? The Revo K101 Plus is a Game Boy Advance Clone console that allows you to play your original gba Cartridges. It comes bundled in with a Revo Card with space for a Micro SD card. From there you can emulate Orginal Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance Games. The question is - Should you buy it?

The original Gameboy was a nearly square display. The "screen cracking" you see in Gameboy mode is the emulator showing you offscreen information. It's all visual information you were never supposed to see, so for accuracy use the black border instead.

I do like the idea of it being an original gameboy player, dunno if you've played one lately, but the screen is so blurry when it scrolls, it's virtually unplayable :(

I've had mine a couple months. So far i've played and beaten Mario and Luigi Superstar saga and Final Fantasy V. I have the AGS101 but this is my default device for GBA games from now on. Great screen, amazing audio (way better than the SP's hum) and the buttons work great. Superstar saga would have been a real pain to play if the buttons weren't spot on. In fact i've been so busy playing GBA games I didn't realise some of the other stuff it does, Thanks Gemma

Wow it actually expands the viewing area of the whole screen there on 6 golden coins when you turned off the border! So its actually showing more screen area than the original screen did! Neat!

Great review, Gemma! I remember giving one of these a try a while back and it did seem very solid! Just a shame that it doesn't take Gameboy and Gameboy Colour cartridges. (:

Have you played it since this review? Like consistently for at least a week? All the reviews I'm finding are fresh out of the box. No one talks about how quickly it starts to fail.

Great review Gemma, I really like mine, have had it a while now. like Estaran states other emulation is poor but the screen holds up well when compared to my AGS101, and this is a very good low(wish) coat alterantive.

I gifted the K101+ to a friend some months ago. The REVO can also emulate NES, SMS, GG and even PCE. GBA, GB and GBC is fine, but with the other systems the emulation is quite poor, sadly. The TV cable is a nifty gadget, but tbh it won't beat a GameCube with GameBoy Player with GBI and a nice RGB cable. Composite quality is just too poor imho. But for GBA the Revo is an awesome alternative to an AGS 101, because the screen is even a bit better than the old Nintendo one.

I think the phrase you used 'you get what you pay for' is spot on. A modded backlit GBA and and an Everdrive would be knocking on for £200 or there abouts. So the £80 or so that this costs isn't that bad price for a machine with a great screen, can connect to a TV, emulate consoles and let you play roms. Yes its only composite, but this feature maybe aimed at a more casual user. I say this as more dedicated gamers would use a GameCube and a GBA player. Great video though Gemma and thanks for highlighting this little wonder :)

well if you need save state / load state feature in gba games then u can use cfw psp 2000/3000 and that plays tones of other things for even less money.
