To be fair the rechargeable battery accessory did improve the battery life a bit. Modern LCD screen mods make the game gear even better now.

I had a game gear and I had a giant external rechargeable battery. Thing still died after an hour.

6 aa batteries killed in roughly 2 hours, the games I had for it were pretty good, but I could only play it while it was plugged into the wall, and when I was at home I would rather play my genesis. If only the lithium battery was invented 10 years earlier it could have been a great thing...well it would have been a Gameboy Advance SP, which was Nintendo's first portable console with a backlit screen...

I lost it for nearly a year and when i found it again it had half charge (i think), those old handheld Nintendo consoles were amazing
