Yet another specimen of the fascinating Native American slungshot war club, this one from the Blackfoot nation. This one was a museum viewing so I could not take close ups and picture quality is the best I could manage.

I've heard of an Apache "flop club, " which is described in a similar way. However, the pouch was formed of wet rawhide around a stone. When the rawhide dried and shrank, it held the stone to the wood or bone handle. The college professor had a slide of one, however I don't know if a photo is available online.

Flexible enough to reduce impact stress on the arm. There's no increase of impact over a club of identical weight, overall length, and velocity of swing. Coincidentally, I found a billiard ball in my shop, and considered tying it in the toe of doubled socks, then tying the socks over a stick.
