Routine is an important part of structure. Dogs are much happier when they can count on a predictable routine. It's the same for human kids. When my sons were growing up there was a definite change in their behavior when their routine was disrupted.

A structured walk begins before you open the door. If your dog isn't calm before you start. The walk won't be calm either. So I patiently waited until she was calm. Sometimes restarting the walk many times. I would say "nope sit" until she did it and waited calmly. My dog was stubborn, a puller, and a lunger. So some walks were delayed a bit and we started over at the door. Until she knew what I expected of her at the door before leashing. I believe it was about tens days before I saw real progress. Be patient and remain calm. If you start to get irritated, delay the walk. And begin again a bit later. An Alpha must be exemplary after all, hehe. Hope this helps someone. Lord knows I needed it once. Thanks to guys like Robert we've come a long way Zoey and I.

I can't begin to tell you how much I have appreciated finding your channel. It has given me a new sense of "I can" with my boy! The emphasis is on my dog's happiness or sense of well-being.
